How is this possible?

So yesterday morning I got a message from the FordPass App that there's an update and that I should start the car to initialize it. How is this possible if I have wifi disable and the hotspot is deactivated.

If this a sync software update or car's computer update. How can I check if something updated?

Maybe when you activate that FordPass crap, it overrides the settings on the car, no? Was something updated? It didn't say what kind of software update it was though. Call Ford, and ask what's going on. I'm not paranoid about being tracked, but I sure as hell don't allow it unless I have to, like when using Google maps, or something else that requires 'location services' ON (which is rare). That FordPass app is pretty intrusive; it tracks everything. I deactivated it on the F-150, and never even set it up on the Bullitt, even after the salesman's insistence.

It's done through your phone, when you plug it into the car. It uses your phone's internet to download the update.

Did that to me a week or so ago.

I will be contacting them as this is weird. Im still on sync 3.4 build 19274, I didnt update it to the new one as I'm paranoid something might break.

Well that's not possible as I use a fast charging 12V adapter. Last time I connected my phone to the car's usb was 3 months ago.

I'm still on sync 3.4 build 19274, I didnt update it to the new one as I'm paranoid something might break.

So that's probably what was updated: Sync 3.4 to build 20136. I updated from 3.3 to that, and no issues so far... but had to change to a Lincoln theme, as I just couldn't live with that awful all-blue theme. Let us know what Ford says, but I'm afraid you 'authorized' the intrusion with the FordApp .

I checked and I'm still on 19274, Ford is a joke no one knows what was updated! They said they will be calling me back with an update. Lol
