Hello; A number of possible scenarios. Some on the shop. Some on you. The first thing as another has written is to take a look at the wheels. "Bent " can mean some different things. One is no obvious marks but does not run true. Another with the low-profile tires now days is the tires and/or rims can be "snakebit" in potholes. Especially if air pressure is low.

A scenario for a shop has to do with the low-profile tires also. It is my take they do not mount and dismount so easy as the older style. Would not be the first time an employee damaged a wheel on one of the tire changing machines.

Guess it could be someone trying to pad profits with the sale of new tires and new wheels.

A question. Why did you decide new tires were needed?

I decided to follow the thread to see how it plays out. Many years ago I had the front steering off my 1978 E-150 van so as to get the kingpins replaced. The new pin bushings have to be drilled to fit the new pins. The guy made the holes too large. Owner would not make it right. Tried to tell me the grease would take up the space. Had to get it done at a different shop. Some shops are honest. Some are not.
I needed new tires as they were very bald and I had the front right wheel hub replaced as it was shot, which caused uneven wear on the tire and the other tires were well below tread depth, borderline easy blowout.

You are right and I left them a message to see if they have a video of the tech doing the mounting/balancing. Other than that if they did fuck up my rims and I have to get new ones I'm sure as shit not taking it back. But what recourse do I even have if its their fault, would be hard to prove it. Also why I have a thread up in wheels/tires about wheel brands.

She then called the tech on the phone and he said oh ya and I even double checked it. But never visibly showed me. Which if all 4 were really bent why wouldn't they come get me and show me.
Hello; If there are not visible marks on the wheels then likely the "bent" description is for a portion of the rim moved over laterally a bit. I bought a used set of rims and one did not run true.
I could put the wheel onto an axle and spin it slowly with a dial indicator pointer resting on the rim. In one are it would move the dial indicator.
Years later i ran over a rock the size of a small cantelope. Burst two tires, bent the lower A-arm, Busted two shocks and bent the wheels. At the time I had a brake turning machine. I could mount the wheels on that and see where the rims were "snake bit". I found some replacement wheels at a salvage yard but kept the damaged ones. Over time I worked the rims back to "good enough" and used the best ass a full sized spare.
Point being there is a chance the wheels can be trued and not need to be replaced. will depend on what damage is done.

Another question. I assume you are running the wheels & new tires. Does the car shake, wobble or otherwise not run smooth?

If you know another shop you trust have them look at the wheels.

Good luck

Hello; check around for shops which specialize in truing wheels. Could save some cash. Good luck.

To have one rim become out-of-round, OK. To return to the same dealer and be told now all four have issues, it's one of two things:

- You're driving a lot worse than you think you are :giggle:

- The machine (could be ancient, broke or uncalibrated) or the person running it (lack of experience, lack of training), something is not quite right. Given the expense and uniqueness of the situation, I'd select another shop with good reviews and have them look at everything with a cold pair of eyes. Ask them to re-check everything Art Hill did

insist they show you how they determined bent. I d want to see. pay on a credit card and then leave and dispute the charge if they screwed up the wheels.
If they show you they are bent slightly then maybe they were. I doubt they bent 4 wheels.
If indeed they are bent then I d go to LMR website and order a nice set of new aftermarket wheels. So how did it drive home??? I m confused.

I wouldn't waste time and money fixing 4 OEM wheels. Oems are heavy and have ugly offsets IMO.

so I m getting the picture. did you pay on a CC? If so continue with what I said and depending on answers you can always dispute that charge and It will get called back and then maybe they ll talk. They really should have shown you immediately to protect themselves. interesting.

I runs smooth to the point i can take my hand off @75mph and it stays straight no wobble, but slight vibration in the steering wheel.

debit card depends on your bank. check that out first. did it have the vibration before they worked on it? If not tell them. if they don t offer to help tell them your disputing the charges with the CC and see what they say. usually easy online dispute form, money gets pulled back and they have to respond. Pain for them . if possible I d go into the dealer and speak with the manager.
My case would be it wasn't vibrating before you touch it. Then they could rebalance and with you there show you the bends. That would be fair.

Hello; try rotating the wheels front to back to see if vibration lingers. If it changes you may have more than one wonky wheel. If it goes away you may have at least two decent or close to decent wheels.

Guess much depends on your skills & having a place to do some checking. Lacking a place and/or skills then how much $$ you have to chase down a solution. New wheels are costly. So are new tires.

Took my car into Art Hill ford in NW indiana to have 4x new tires put on, when they did the balancing they said all my rims were bent and I needed 4Ă— new rims, less than a year ago I had a bent rim, had them replace it with OEM stock 19Ă—8.5 rim for a 2016 GT/CS and the other rims were fine. Never been in an accident or spun out or anything that would of caused 4 rims to be bent. Couple other people I talked to said it's highly unlikely. Is Ford trying to fuck me or ?
Do you run your tire pressure too low?
