I think the S550 is aging just fine.

I am partial to the pre-facelifts right now.

I just wish they had the Ipad dash of the S650.

Just kidding! You can stop typing the angry replies now lol

I’m think the S550 platform is aesthetically aging well. The S650 really gives me no reason to trade or sell. My 18 GT, PP1, 6sp is aging like fine wine. I have 70k right now and just had to replace the rear shocks. No other issues besides the coyote tick. To all you guys who have these insanely low mileage on their cars…who are you saving it for? Drive and enjoy it! This is my “fun car” so yeah, I don’t daily drive it but it gets used on nice days and weekends.

I think the exterior will age gracefully and not look outdated any time soon. The market's future will determine that but I really believe its just enough modern and just enough mustang to not ruffle feathers for awhile versus s197 which i feel is aging terribly. Its not a bad looking car by any means but the rest of the automotive industry just moved in different directions which really left that design in the dust. Also considering that they had to quickly pivot away from the nostalgic design before sales would tank i think they had a lot of restrictions and not enough time.

Interior is a different story. I think the s550 did the bare minimum to be considered "modern" by 2015 standards. Even if you bought a brand new 23 mustang you are in an interior that fundamentally was designed in 2014. I think most newer cars will continually make the interiors of s550/s197 look inferior with each passing year.

I still love the look of the S550s. The 5.0 continues to be a bad ass motor as well. Now if Ford could do something about the stock GT 6 speed that would be GREAT. I do think the S650 is just too big, even the S550 was pushing it in my opinion.

I just sold my 18 PP1 with just over 69K on it. Main reason I had to was the transmission. I already had 4th gear repaired under warranty at 35K about 3 years ago.

The transmission was starting to whine. Now, with no warranty and facing probably a 6K upgrade to the Tremec I just decided to get a Bronco.

I would 100% still have that car if it wasn't for the transmission issues. Maybe when the Mach 1 comes down to reality in the used market I will scoop one up.

9.5 yrs old and 60K miles (2016 GT/CS w/ FRPP Power Pack stage 2). Aging quite well, all things considered. However, the paint is and always has been crap. The aluminum hood is corroding in several places (will cost about $2k to replace it). Mechanically, the only significant unplanned repairs have been the replacement of 3 of the 4 front control arms between 35K and 40K miles (too soon in my opinion). Interior wise, there is a small crack in the outboard driver's seat bolster. I'm amazed at how thin they are able to manufacture that pleather. This is undoubtedly due to me getting in and out of the car, even though I try to push on different spots so as to not wear the foam down in one spot . There are also a couple of popped seams in the driver and passenger seat bases, which should be pretty easy to repair.

One minor issue was that it started leaking from the passenger side valve cover at about 30K miles. When I checked the bolts, almost all of them were loose with a couple of them having backed out considerably. Re-torquing them resolved the leak.

Some initial issues that are not necessarily related to aging:

Right off the lot, my head unit was replaced under warranty. Also, my backup camera was replaced under the recall.

From day one, the radiator fan has had a slight bearing squeak when it winds down after shutting off the engine. Has never gotten worse.

The engine has always made an odd noise (similar to the sound of a slight knock, or perhaps piston slap), but only when it is cold and only when between 2.5K and 3.5K rpm and only when the throttle is just a tiny bit off from equilibrium. Once under even a slight load, the noise goes away. I've had the oil analyzed at every change and there has never been any signs of abnormal wear, so I've just left it alone and try to pilot around the conditions that produce the noise.

Sometimes, but not always, when turning left under the right conditions (which I still haven't nailed down other than a general amount of turn), the steering wheel 'sticks' and doesn't naturally unwind on its own until I give it a little input to get it started. Has never done that when turning to the right. This may be related to the premature failure of the control arms. Perhaps there is something in the geometry that is slightly off which is applying excessive pressure to the steering and control arms under just the right conditions.

Lately It feels like it is getting a little 'floaty' during shenanigans. Still good tire tread and I check for loose bearings and steering components every time I switch between winter and summer tires. From what I've read, it seems that at 60K miles it is probably time to replace the shocks/struts.

This is the first Ford I've owned and the first car I've purchased new. All manufacturers have their issues. These issues have been minor and I've been able to repair them all myself. Driving the Mustang takes me back to my youth driving our home-made sand rail with a big block V8 (455 ci (7.5L) Buick - straight out of an Estate Wagon, yes it was green with wood panels). It's like "dune-bug'n" on the street.

Since then, I've picked up a 1998 Mazda B4000 (Ford Ranger). It has 233K miles on it and it has aged astonishingly well. Still going strong.

Mine has 6000km =3700 odd miles.
Im in my late 30s, i love this car but only love driving it on weekends, friends place, going for an actual drive.
I would not enjoy driving it daily to work/chores/etc, im paranoid about people opening their door on mine, plus in tight parking spots, its a pain to park, as my other cars are smaller
Yep, I wouldn't like to drive one daily to work either, theres something special about getting in it on special weekend days when the weather is good. If I drove it all the time it would no longer have that appeal

Sometimes I think about selling and getting a Land cruiser or a toyota prado txl, but then I look at the prices of landcruisers, and then I change my mind. The Mustang is still a great car and the interior doesn't look so dated. I had a BMW before with the LED instrument panel, all the new tech, and I really dont miss it.

This was honestly stuff I had to consider when looking at what mustang to get as I picked mine up just slightly over a year ago.

For Looks:
I think the S550 looks as good as it ever has, there are very few car model continuations that I have seen come out in my lifetime that I have immediately taken a liking to. The S550 is still one of the top in my opinion. My only criticism is that they don't portray the "muscle" car look as well as others (S197s, Camaros, challengers, etc.). This doesn't bother me that much as I see the S550 as more of a "sports" car anyways. I do think the S650 does a better job of that but for the life of me I cannot find it in my heart to like the way the back of the car looks, the front has grown on me over time but that's about it.

2nd Hand Prices:
Frankly these are all over the place, and it was a HUGE headache trying to find one that was a reasonable price with reasonable miles. This is partly due to the used car market as a whole and the current state of the economy and so on and so forth.

I'd say part of the biggest reasons for this is there are very few "middle"/"normal" options. Everything was either overly modded, had way too many miles for the year, the seller just wanted way too much, or was a reasonable price just to find out the car had a rebuilt/salvage title. I had to search for about 6 months daily to find a "reasonable" deal.

Mechanically:
These cars and motors are still solid and with boost they punch way above their weight class to this day, for relatively cheap. If anything, I think the coyote is having the same problem that the Nissan GTR had, it's just too good. Thats why all of the new S650 variations are all Supercharged S650s instead of something completely new or continuations of the voodoo and GT500 motors.

Overall:
I still think this car is basically the best option to get yourself into an NA V8 for a reasonable price (without going charger/challenger route and running the risk of it getting stolen). Is it perfect, no, is it the fastest, no, is it the best sounding, no, is it the most reliable, no, but it's the best at being the middle ground for all of those and that to me make it worth it.

2021 Mach 1 manual here. 8k miles only since it is a weekend/summer car. Drives like new.

Could see myself in a 911 in a couple years. Has always fascinated me. Completely different car and price point. Hard to compare.

S550 will age well im my opinion, especially the “classic” interior.
