Hondas high mileage club. A Million mile club. Definitely reliable cars.

Performance and 1/4 miles I'll take the Mustang.

Yep. Honda has EARNED its rep.

A lot of it has to do with what they decide they want their cars to do and NOT to do. Many car companies sell based on the latesr "features" or this kind of performance etc. Honda always keeps an even keel. Not the most exciting vehicles. But dang if they don't do exactly what you bought them to do day in and day out.

I still think Honda is over-rated and you will over pay for what you get. No one will ever convince me that the Hondas of the last 20-30 years are much more reliable than Fords of the same time periods. My parents owned a few that were fixed a number of times and I had a coworker that loved Hondas. He drives a Focus - big improvement. Now - possibly in the future they will become more reliable, but they haven't been.

And I'd much rather have a Briggs engine in my mower rather than Jap junk.

If something is less than 20 years old, how can you say it's reliable? It hasn't had time to break yet. If it breaks in less than 20 years, it's a real POS like my mom's Hondas.

Im thinking your not understanding what I meant. In the 80s imports had this magical reputation for being reliable. American cars were basically crap. It's not 1982 anymore. A Ford or Chevy is likely to last just as long as a Honda or Toyoto.

I have owned 2 Hondas, both were bulletproof. I drove both of them plenty hard. Certainly, the mustang is the more fun car though.

I had a 2014 V6 with ~300 hp. Its a pretty fast car but nowhere near GT fast. I sure wish my Mustang had an interior and electronics like the Accord had. The Mustang has come along way but it still not at Honda quality (which has been failing over the years).

More like 1980-2005. Honda was generations ahead of Ford and they have been lazy over the past 10 years which has allowed Ford to catch up. Toyota is the new Buick in my opinion, the pure definition of "bland conformity" (and I own a Sequoia Platinum edition).

There was no "magic" go sit in an 85 Escort and look at how its built. Then go look at a 85 Honda CRX. There was a reason the Ford popped head gaskets after 3 years. Fords failures were in the 1/10,000 range. Hondas was 1/1,000,000 range.

So I agree and disagree with you.

In the 80s Honda was dumping cars into the US markets at under cost in order to gain a competitive advantage. When the car was more expensive to build, of course there is a difference. However, the experience I've had is for all the predatory pricing Japan was doing at the time, the cars really weren't that good. Of course I'm comparing V8 Fords like Mustangs, F-150s and Crown Vics to the Accord and Civic. Maybe that's unfair of me, but it's the comparison I have personal experience with.

I remember when the first Hondas hit the US around 1976. Super small little car with a 2 cylinder motorcycle engine in it. Looked like a toy. It's amazing how far some of these car companies have come over the years.

Briggs assembled in the USA and components manufactured in China. So China junk or Jap junk? Yes there are US jobs associated with Briggs and that's great but your Briggs is Engineered here - Manufactured there - assembled here.

Similar to what Honda does with there assembly plant in Ohio.

Why do you have such a new one then? I had an Accord - it was constantly breaking. My Fords of similar age were way more dependable. Also when the Fords did break they were much easier to fix. I donated that POS Accord and I will never own another.

Honda has a false reputation about being dependable. Completely untrue.

That's good about your one case... however that is not confirmed by *any* reputable source at any time in the past 30 years so this is complete fanboy BS.
