Yes, yes, thanks to all of you. I got my Homelink to work. It took me about 4 hours, but I have done it, yes, yes, yes. The key is to do the garage Learn button midway. I guess some you can program without touching that learn button
I discovered this to, and took me over an hour to get it to work. It has to do with he age of your actual garage door opener. Mine is 16 years old, so had to use the learn button on the opener.

I had to first train the homelink in the car. Then I had to press the learn button on my garage door opener motor. Ran back to my car and pressed the homelink button again. The motor is probably from the 90's but had a lift master remote installed later. So far it's been working great.

I can't get mine to work trying both methods. Will keep trying. I have a Sears craftsman 1999 vintage.

I guess I'm lucky. I just held the button on the visor and the button on my garage door opener like the instructions say. It took about 60 seconds. I was thrilled it was so easy. I was expecting it to be difficult, and it wasn't.

I figured it out very easily once today after I realized it was a two step process. You tube videos helped.

what if you have one of those fancy code hopping genie openers.

I couldnt get the old homelink to mate with it and havent botheret trying on the 2 new cars.

Is there a trick?
I have one and have yet to figure out what gypsy magical dance I have to do in order for it to work. I have watched the same 30 second video 127 times and read the manual as if I just learning how to read. I just moved not long ago so the garage has got a mountain of stuff in it with a perfect pathway to walk through, not enough space to do anything else. (in case anyone asks why I didn't try to connect to the unit itself yet) just annoying that the instructions make it look so easy

I guess I got lucky. I have a older craftsman and no need to hit the learn button on it.
And the part number to add this to the base trim level is fr3z-6304105-da at least for the black one, not sure if there are any other colors. Just pop the old one out and this one in. It uses the same power wire as the mirror, all the electronics must be in the visor.
