Planning on driving my Mach 1 daily, to and from work (26 mile round trip) after picking it up in Iowa and driving it home to Nor Cal. She will also be our road trip car as we don't have kids, just a German Shepherd who doesn't mind riding in the back seat...as long as we stop every couple hours.

A Mach 1 and an s6? Are we long lost siblings and just meeting for the first time?
Lol we just might be! At least people with good taste ;-)

Okay now for the next question...do y'all think I can fit my SUP on my Mustang??? :cwl: My husband keeps telling me this is a personal situation I got myself into and to leave his car out of it!

I don't have mine yet but purchased it to be my DD. The only mod I plan to make is to swap out the Cup 2's for a more daily friendly tire but might just wait the couple of thousand miles.

Hello and welcome! lots of great points of view you're gettin. I've got an HP model that I put all season tires. I definitely subscribe to the buy it to drive it. The only time I parked and waited to drive her was when we got a couple feet of snow. Then i just waited for the roads to be plowed. Once that was done, i took her back out. Just me smart and she'll handle more than you think. Technology has come a long way with stability control for these types of cars with regards to adverse weather.

I currently drive a 2017 VW GTI and I plan on selling it next month after I pick up my Mach 1 6mt from Grangers. I work remote but I drive around 12k miles a year doing errands and driving to all my activities. So I plan on daily driving it except for snow days here in Colorado. That should make it doable for about 330 days of the year. The other 30 days, I'll just make do.

Also, I considered that I'll be going from a hatchback to something less useful. I chose the mustang because it still has a large trunk, enough to fit all my luggage. As for the gas mileage, honestly gas costs just as much as it did 10 years ago and I make 3 times as much as I did then so its no big deal.
I got mine from Granger as well. Just look for the shipping blocks in the front coil springs and check your PSI. I found them when I got home. Other than that, they were great.

I daily mine but I purposely didn't get the HP knowing it was going to be more of a DD, already at 5K miles (almost a year old). I've got a 12 yr old F-150 too that I can run around in when it rains/with dogs, etc (which is rare except for Tuesday). I like the black plate...just got mine (ordered in June '21)

I barely make it 200 miles with city driving. These cars love to drink the gas. That alone is why I'm glad it's not my daily but I also find reasons to drive it any time I can. If you can afford a Mach 1, you can afford to put gas in it.

Silly question...does anyone else here use their M1 as their daily driver? It doesn't seem as "daily driver" friendly as my '07 GT was but obviously that was whole different car and lifetime ago.
I kind of miss my Jeep as my mom grind vehicle but I've been dreaming of owning a Mustang again for the last 10 or so years so I'm torn (and having Mom guilt) about my not-very-practical but-oh-so-fun car :giggle:
It’s at the limit of what I would say is comfortable for me if I were to consider daily driving it. With the xtra big wheels and spoiler package, yes, I can easily say it’s a bit. Not too too much, but I could see dealing with the xtra track focused accoutrements get old on a daily basis. If you track often and not a daily I would get those extras. All Mach 1’s are an “edgy” vehicle that makes me feel like I need to be on my toes driving it. In fact this car demands your attention driving it. That in itself can become tiring which is why people are initially excited to have a Mach 1 until reality sets in.
I’d bet a LOT of people would find the GT a better more livable daily vehicle.

Nah, they're too close to each other. Too nice too to subject them to ever changing weather. I'd take Focus RS or new ST for a daily car (or Fiesta ST even for majority of solo driving). All people I know with BMW, Audi or Mercedes that daily drive them have AWD.

Which is why I got the non-HP Mach 1 - put the suspension in normal with comfort steering on and seat heaters doing 80 on I-5...it's an easy drive even with the Tremec.

It was somewhat of a last minute impulse buy and had all the goodies on it. I test drove it and loved it but didn’t really stop to think about the daily drive ability of it. It is what it is for now. She’s tons of fun but it’s hard to not get on it too much 🤷🏻‍♀️

Probably only 2 black Mach 1s in North County :)

I've been daily driving mine for the last month. If you're in standard mode it's not much different than a regular GT. My GT is down right now for 150k maintenace, and honestly the Mach 1 has been better in the nasty weather because of the snow/rain mode even on the summer tires. Ideally I wouldn't be driving it in the lousy weather, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

As long as you don't have the HP, the Mach 1 is super DD friendly... That's one of the best things about this car. There arguably isn't a better combination of daily driveability/practicality and performance at any price within spitting distance, let alone if you want a V8 and a manual, and prefer not to sell your firstborn.

So far (which isn't very far), the only drawback I can name is that the gas mileage is a little less than I was hoping for. Granted, I'm still breaking the car in and usually about one gear too low, and mostly doing city driving. Still, I feel like under similar conditions, my old '15 GT PP might have gotten just a bit better mileage, which is slightly surprising to me with the addition of DI. But at worst the difference is negligible.

Long story short, absolutely DD capable if you're not trying to lug around a family of four every day and are not worried about buying gas.
