Silly question...does anyone else here use their M1 as their daily driver? It doesn't seem as "daily driver" friendly as my '07 GT was but obviously that was whole different car and lifetime ago.
I kind of miss my Jeep as my mom grind vehicle but I've been dreaming of owning a Mustang again for the last 10 or so years so I'm torn (and having Mom guilt) about my not-very-practical but-oh-so-fun car :giggle:

Welcome!
I wish I used it as a dd but my commute is less than a mile so my car stays covered most days. And parked for winter :crying:

Short answer yes it can be a daily, pretty good one by sports car standards.
Longer answer...why though would you really want to do that?

For a time my M1 (6MT) was a daily driver, even in SoCaL traffic. I now have a different car for daily drives. That said, this was simply a matter of choice, not because of deficiencies with the M1. In Normal mode the car is very comfortable for its class. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it soaks up bumps in Normal mode, as always keep you eyes on your tire PSIs. I like them a little over recommended PSI for daily driving. Its a plausible daily driver, and pretty comfortable by sports car standards.

I can get better than advertised MPG indicated, on the highway at 65MPH with very gentle throttle inputs and recommended shift points. It is very sensitive to grades on the highway, a little bit up hill and it will loose MPGs. Prolonged city driving knocks the MPGs down to low 18s, and was trending further down.

If you can get over the gas mileage and maintenance cost with using a car like this as a daily, its perfectly physically capable of doing it with little fuss.

Most people who can afford this car and have the space, can come up with 2.5k-5k and pick up a daily driver. Once kids' school started again, this would have required a lot of short less than 10 minutes, hops to school ect. No way I was going to put the M1 through drives like that. I have a 2000 Civic LX auto with 106HP  for the daily, and I absolutely love having this option for drives like this.

I agree wholeheartedly; as my husband and I have been looking or a cheap "beater" car to get my daily grind done. I don't drive far or very often per se as I work from home and my kiddo's school is only two miles or so away but it still seems like I'm at the gas station once a week which is a bit annoying albeit painful :headbang: I also worry about saving up for a revolving "tire fund".

I guess I was just curious if anyone else was doing it. It's not ideal to have to buy a second (well third) car because of my desire for a Mustang however I can't bear to part with it - especially so soon into ownership. And certainly not before partaking in Track Attack! :giggle:

Glad to have another M1 owner! I wish I could daily it, Colorado gets a little snow and cold during the winter and I like the Cup 2’s so can’t for a good portion of the year. But when it’s 50+deg and dry I’ll drive it almost every day!

Don't have mine yet — plan on driving it year-round as my daily. Imo, cars are meant to be driven, not kept in a garage. Why buy an M1 if you're not going to drive it often? I say if you spend a good portion of your time behind a steering wheel, it should be in something that inspires joy every time you press the start button.

I daily drive my Mach. But I am remote 95% of the time. Any snowy or rainy days I drive my wife's car.

I am planning to get a motorcycle soon, that will help keep miles low on the car.

I have had the Mach 1 a month, I have a 1000 miles on the car.. 600 miles of that was picking it up from Chapman Ford.. lol

I agree on the whole "buy it to drive it" concept.

I guess my only "issue" is that we would take road trips somewhat often and this is certainly not a road trip friendly car in that sense (trips to the mountains, trips to my Mom's in AZ). Guess we just use my husband's Audi S6 as the new 'shuttle' (it's modded @ around 600 hp so it's no slouch either) or rent something as needed.

LOL I hear you - the first 100 or so miles on my car is also from trekking it home from the dealership! I've had the car roughly two months and I'm around 900 miles.

My brother has a PP1 2019 GT with the same summer PS4s as a Mach1 and lives in upper MD and it’s his daily driver to school but sub 40 degrees he takes one of the kid’s cars

Welcome!!

Being from SoCal like me why worry? Even when it's cold it is still 50 or 60.

I daily my '19 GT PP1 to the tune of 40K miles already. I just love to drive it. Enjoy your M1!

Yup! This car is my DD especially in the rainy months in Houston when I can't walk/bike to work. The Mach 1 is not a garage queen at all and definitely built for daily abuse just like the Camaro SS 1LE. Its rough, its loud, its not fuel efficient but that's the whole point right? Now the AMG GT or the corvette are terrible daily drivers IMO: absolutely no support and you cringe over every bump in the road.

I brought my M1 home 5 months ago. The past 2 months she's been my DD after handing off my sedan to my kid. In the process of finding a beater to take some of the more routine trips. Have a 12 mile, mostly freeway, commute to work each morning (24 mile r/t). Often use it for errands but do try and jump in my GF's car for shorter trips. Just took it to LA on Monday. 266 mile r/t and got over 20 MPG. I too go to the gas station - a lot! But no complaints here. I bought it to drive it. Awesome daily driver around San Diego. Enjoy!!!!!

A Mach 1 and an s6? Are we long lost siblings and just meeting for the first time?

I currently drive a 2017 VW GTI and I plan on selling it next month after I pick up my Mach 1 6mt from Grangers. I work remote but I drive around 12k miles a year doing errands and driving to all my activities. So I plan on daily driving it except for snow days here in Colorado. That should make it doable for about 330 days of the year. The other 30 days, I'll just make do.

Also, I considered that I'll be going from a hatchback to something less useful. I chose the mustang because it still has a large trunk, enough to fit all my luggage. As for the gas mileage, honestly gas costs just as much as it did 10 years ago and I make 3 times as much as I did then so its no big deal.
