Hi from Denmead

Hi all,

On Saturday I put an order in for a Race Red, Manual Fastback from the Eastleigh FordStore. I'm in Denmead (Waterlooville) and I see a few members in my area (are they going to be common!?).

Thought I'd drop in as I'm already scouring the internet for information, mods and the usual stuff form owners already out there.

Obviously I'm in the same boat as a few who cannot order a discontinued, or new colour. I wanted Deep Impact Blue and I've yet to see Lightning to know if I want it or not; still, with a 9 to 12 month wait (so I'm told) I have time to change my mind... or so I'm told!

To whomever was there picking up their Orange car; very nice indeed!

As for me; I've long owned a Monaro VXR (6.0) and been in and out of DeLorean ownership the past 15/20 years - I currently have a very "in bits" car as a long term project. The Mustang is replacing my 1st generation Audi TT - and whilst my wife currently drives an S5, she's after a Focus RS! Mad!

Anyway; that's me and I'm keen to be part of the community at meets and things, so I'll lurk about.

Fellow Monaro owner here. I have had my CV8 from new in 2005, and it will be joined by a soft top Mustang GT soon.

I hope your wait isnt quite as long as they suggested. I ordered May last year, car was made end of January, and is sitting in Baltimore waiting for a boat. Should be here about 11 months after order (i hope) but they seem to be speeding up the process now.

Me too, though the whole order process for me is dependent on it being around 9 months (basically so I can save more, less finance!) but if it's earlier I won't complain. The salesman said he thinks I'll have it this year but obviously can't commit since it's not even on their order system for build yet. I'm easy either way, but the wait will be painful!

Nice to see another Monaro owner - they're wonderfully old school; I have no intention of letting mine go, even if it doesn't see much in the way of use these days!

Mine replaced a TT 225 too... It is about as different as you can imagine driving one after the other... night and day

OOh the cheek! The TT has always had that reputation; and I have zero hair ;). The TT IS a great little car; it ticked the right boxes when I needed something to get about in; that said, it's not "fun" - but at least it's pretty.

The Mustang and TT are nothing alike, true, but the Mustang feels smaller than it is, so I'm not worried. Coming from the Monaro which feels every bit as big as it is, it was a nice surprise. That hood/bonnet though - wow. I've never owned anything so imposing.

Hope the long wait doesn't get too frustrating for you.....

Pop along to the regular Berkshire meet (see sticky on meet dates at the top of the UK section) - the meet last month was really good (though wet and cold).

If you have time, come and meet a few of us in Guildford this Sunday - should be a few cars for you to drool over ;)

Interesting to see the CO next to a race red the ford store say that they have sold mostly red and only a few orange and now that CO has been discontinued it will make it a rare beast!
Looking at the two colours side by side I would say red looks well smart but co looks real mean! And I love that! Lol

It's amazing how CO and RR look almost identical on pictures, but sit them next to one another and it's distinctive that one is Orange and the other is red. Damn camera's!

I don't blame you; very nice in person (in pictures, like RR it's a tough colour to photograph).

I'm thinking of changing to Ruby Red now; I'm really not sure. Race is a safe colour either way (easy to keep too).

I'm hoping to get some OEM, or Foundry-style 20 inch wheels for when it's delivered; finding stuff online isn't easy though.
