Just how strong are the factory half shafts? I had issues with wheel hop splintering them like a toothpick on an SN95. I haven't noticed much wheel hop in the 22 but I haven't really pushed it either.

They‘re on borrowed time. Some Mustang owners swap over to the GT350 half shafts which are said to be stronger and definitely much cheaper than G-Force or Ford Performance (which are made by G-Force to Ford specs). The factory shafts have what looks like foam inside of them.

I believe later M6 cars got an updated shaft (on the weak side, but I’m not sure which that is) - that option might be a cheap ‘first step’ for a A10 car :like:

Factory half shafts and their strength is all determined by the use of the vehicle. We snapped ours on the first pass ever made on a prepped track back on our completely stock auto 18 car.. I usually recommend if you drive the car hard or do any racing whatsoever whether its an auto/manual its best to upgrade them. A great option on a budget is the GT350 half shafts, if you're looking for the best then either the DSS/Gforce half shafts are the way to go. We carry all here and will be glad to help with a set. If you have any additional questions at all you can feel free to PM me.

Factory axles will hold up for a bit. It really just depends on how you drive the car. I generally dont recommend the gt350 axles because they are not designed for hard launches and drag racing. they are designed for autocross. If you are going to the drag strip or doing hard lunches on the street i would go with a DSS or Gforce. I cant tell you how many guys ive had come to me with broken gt350 axles and dont understand why they dont hold up. Im a believer in do it right the first time. I keep DSS and Gforce outlaw & renegades on the shelf for that reason. Let me know if i can help out in any way

On our '18 GT, we snapped our stock driver side half-shaft at the stock power level. These are known failures on these cars, especially at the track or on any surface you'll hook on (or even worse, experience wheel hop on). You can help "fix" the wheel hop with some suspension goodies and a nice set of tires, but there needs to be a replacement of these half-shafts if you plan on racing. We offer the GT350, DSS, or Gforce ones as Blake previously mentioned and have options in stock. Let us know if you have any questions.

Just a warning. The Ford Performance or G Force shafts are larger. In some cases the CV boots are extremely close to or will touch the shocks. G force does have smaller boots or you will have to slot the shock mounts to gain some clearance.
