I doubt we’ll even notice. Imports are about 12% relative to our GDP and Chinese imports are about 2%. Raising tariffs 10% on steel and aluminum would add .2% overall to cost. Not to mention Trump had tariffs in his first term and we didn’t see any inflation from those.
yes, this times eleventy…the “sky is falling” yahoos are apparently new to economics and/or politics 😂

but back on topic…are any of the initial recipients in this thread going to get one this year? Or have all of ya defered?!?

As far as getting one, based on Tom’s posts they don’t yet. Of course they are under a NDA so who knows.

No disagreement… but if we’re comparing the two cars on their merits (performance) then it’s tough to say the GTD is worth $250K. That’s all. :)
I Would think the price would be closer to Porsche 911 GT3. A person I met at my detail shop just purchased one 911 GT3 as well as a 911 GT3RS and absolutely gorgeous. But he said the RS was all out racing and ruff as hell on the street. Now. I am glad for those who buy them for if they can afford it< why not?.

Because the Ring is a lot more than just straights.
Thank you, Captain Obvious. Did you not see that it's crushing a 700 lbs lighter McLaren Senna hypercar on multiple tracks with just random engineers driving it? It can obviously turn. And LOTS of time is made up on the multi mile straight with that level of speed.

The ZR1 is smashing records all over the US... posted by the McLaren Senna. I assume the GTD is faster around corners, but that 233 MPH top speed barreling down the long straight....don't see how the ZR1 doesn't eclipse the GTD's ring performance.
It might and it might not. GTD is still reverse engineered from a race car, ZR1 started from a street car base. I’m not an engineer and certainly not privy to the designs of either car, but there are very likely some nuances there that will favor the GTD. Is it enough to overcome the HP (and likely weight) differences? Maybe, maybe not. We won’t know until the ZR1 hits the Ring. And if it beats the GTD, great. Another win for American car manufacturers.

Assuming a 3LZ trim, CF package with the ZTK package (all the big aero stuff), looks like sticker is around $200k or so (just looking at the pricing in the C&D article, not sure if it requires any other additional add-ons). Not bad, but I bet ADM pushes that configuration to $300k, so now you’re right on top of GTD pricing. Only a buyer can say whether it’s worth it or not, but at similar pricing for a truly limited production vehicle, I’d probably lean GTD personally. But I’m also one that wouldn’t be able to use either car to its full potential (or even close to it) for many many years.

I still don't think beating other cars matters. A really good time on a tough track with a limited edition, "sort of" Ford Mustang will sell itself assuming the car doesn't have some oddball fatal flaw.

It is street legal, and that is what matters. Influencers, Ford fanatics, collectors, racers, etc., etc. are all going to want a piece of this.

Don't see how it won't beat the GTD if it's beating the Senna on 5 diff tracks, when the Senna has around the same power as the GTD (789 HP, 590 TQ) and weighs 2641 LBS dry, with I'd assume as much or more aero (and an engine in the right place). The Senna is in a completely different league than the GTD.

I'm sorry, I forgot the smiley face. I was, of course, kidding.:blush::thumbsup::thumbsup:

"On any given day". So much depends on conditions that are out of control of the cars and the drivers. Unless you run the cars in identical conditions, likely back to back on the same day, the comparisons of a second here and a second there are not meaningful. But like 0-60 and 1/4 mile times it what we deem most important. I'm looking forward to the next run of the GTD and the first run or the ZR1.

I'm living vicariously through Tom and the others on here that will hopefully take delivery sometime before I turn 90.

Stranger things have happened. Never know until it actually gets out on the Ring (or if Ford takes GTD to the tracks that the ZR1 went to).

I actually hope the ZR1 puts down a really good time at the Ring. Maybe that will push Ford to improve the GTD (or maybe put out something totally different, something based off the LMDh they will be developing).
