Again, a regular Motor Trend host driving a Boss 302 (Confirmed base Boss 302). He does a 1:40.2...

I'm not impressed with the ATS-V...

Just FYI, the 2015 GTPP is faster than the Laguna Seca...

Again, that's why it's tuff to compare when you have different drivers. Everyone respects Probst, so his times many refer to. These guys who drove the Boss faster then him just shows there better drivers. So they beat him by 3 sec, so what's to say they wouldn't do the same with the ATS V and post a time near 1:37?

Same driver, same day is the only real way I know of coming closest to a direct comparison. That being said, I think the ATS-V is a damn nice car. Not necessarily what I am in the market for, but if I wanted a performance/lux car, it would be near/at the top of the list ( LOVE the sound of the Merc, but a $20k+ price differential, ouch). Still hoping for an auto/twin turbo GT500 (yeah I have said it ad nauseum, but maybe Ford is listening??), that car WILL absolutely get my money.

Um... Did you not see a Motor Trend editor just run a 1:40.21 in a Base Boss 302? Something tells me the Boss Randy had was put through some heat exhaustion steps.

Randy drove both ATS-V's, both were not very quick. I knew that and reported that here a month ago. Randy is about as fast as they come and even the Boss will slow down eventually. The 911 GT3 posted a 1:36.8, which is laughable.

I'm just not impressed with the ATS-V's 1:39.68 and 1:40.14. You would think a 3700lbs car w/464hp could lap a bit quicker. I'd say 1:37-1:38 at least... but no... it's just as fast as everyone else in the 450hp range.

The GTPP is capable of a 1:38-1:39 at Laguna Seca. The Lightning Lap showed a 6 second advantage over a loaded GTPP Premium. I know the extra 100lbs doesn't help but it's not responsible for 6 seconds.

It's rubbish...

Just trying to figure out how much the Stang would weigh with the new Raptor 3.5 TT. From what I've been looking at. That motor might give the 5.2 a run for it's money and destroy it in the tq dept.
It seems twin turbo V6's are in the 480-500lbs range. About 90-120lbs more than the bare V6.

If the Coyote remains at 430lbs (unlikely if DI is added), a twin turbo system should weigh about the same. I'd say 520-550lbs. The Trinity was a 580lbs engine... the TR6060 the Trinity uses is a 180lbs setup with the flywheel, the TR3160 would lose about 40lbs there too... Lots of weight saving potential in a TT Coyote/TR3160 combo BUT, expect 16 inch, 6 pot brakes, 305/325/19/20's and a lot of suspension/drivetrain beef. I would be thrilled if the new car can match the old ones curb weight.

Best case scenario is the 120lbs on top of the GT350TP's 3760lbs... and we can probably expect a little more... 3950lbs would be okay, anything under 3900 would be a blessing. Like the Corvette, the Mustang doesn't require sub-frame reinforcement to support a convertible and the Z06/GT350. We will see just how strong the S550 is once the 500 comes out.

The 6th Gen Camaro is already showing its weakness in structural rigidity. The price they paid for a lighter structure... but still looks to be about 30-40lbs heavier than the Mustangs BIW.

what a shame....
it won't be locked until the point is proven and irrefutable. These small breakouts are an unfortunate necessity. The ATS-V was a perfect example of a trophy vehicle with an inflated reputation being exposed, day by day, with patience and proof. The curb weight was a text book example of what we are dealing with now. Without performance boast from many of these guys about the ATS-V, the 1:40 at Laguna would have went unnoticed. They certainly can't argue that the Boss was just as fast as the ATS-V now... so, rough road or not, it was required.

The resistance I received for suggesting the Camaro was a 110.5 inch shortened CTS was incredible... and now that we peeled that banana several times, everyone is on the same page. The MSRP debate was tragic... I wish more displeasure was expressed when I released the window. It may have helped.

Now we have the LT4 coming, most likely hosting all the issues I already talked about. We still need to deal with a 3685lbs SS and a convertible that only gained 55lbs over that. Like talking about a Track Pack that reduces weight by 33lbs only to find out it made the car heavier (according to the 3800lbs ATS-V non-believers).

The LT4 Camaro is nothing more than a CTS-V. There is nothing exciting happening under the Camaro banner. Just more recycled parts bin crap...

Answer me this Todd...

Does a 2016 1SS concern you at either Track, Circuit, Series or Solo? Now that we can compare some Randy Pobst ATS-V results, does an SS pose a threat to a Boss 302 or GTPP? An ATS-V seems more than manageable if you ask me... I doubt an SS is putting a V to shame.

I'm sure we will see an SS put 6 seconds on a loaded GTPP Premium... then sadly drift away after the initial test.

I was hoping the new 3.5 TT would weigh around 450lbs.
Is there talks of the next gt500 possibly getting ttv6 over a sc v8? I'd love to see what kind of power a twin screw fpc 5.2 could put up. That long power band with the lowend of the blower would be insane!!!!!!!!

Camaro fans can't even fit their fat heads out their windows... so it doesn't matter what they say. They are buying an unsafe car.

This is all I see.. :mullet:

There has been a whisper or two. Heat soak and packaging is hurting the TT V-8. The V-6 can make as much usable power (650hp) while staying cool. SuperCharged V-8 will be most likely.

IF it sticks with a v8 will it be a 5.0 or a fpc 5.2?

I'm saying the 5.2 with a cross plane crank. But this is just speculation based on the fact that the 5.0's bore shrouds the valves. This is the same reason why Ford went to 5.8 liters with the Trinity.
