A composite "subframe" is already in use on the 350.

The front radiator support is composite but the front subframe is steel. The subframe is what supports the engine and mounts the front lower suspension control arms. The 6th gen Camaro and many other models(BMW across most models) have fully aluminum front subframes.

Just calculating based on the mustang GTs subframe (58.5lbs), the new composite piece will weight in at 38.5.

20lbs over the front of the car is great, but it's not earth shattering.

Ultimately the car needs to be an aluminum unibody (may reduce stiffness overall) OR bite the bullet and really increase the ultra high strength steel.

The other option which is the most likely for the 2021 S650 is 7.5/8 size with increased high strength steel and some ultra high strength in the pillars and floor.

This may help reduce the car by 100lbs. Add in full aluminum suspension and the Hopefully both subframes come in composite and we can see 150lbs reduction.

ttime500, look at the 2005/6 GT and the 2007 GT500... nearly the same engine, sans block and S/C, and despite the lighter weight of the GT (rated 13/21 mpg), the GT500 was rated at 15/21 mpg and Ford sold them like hotcakes.
Ok. Im confused on your point? I'm not saying they won't sell. I'm saying cafe regulations are supposed to get more intense and they are going to need the GT to get better mpg because like you said they sell GTs like hot cakes. The Halo cars don't matter much because they sell in low volume. Unless they have a base that is a hybrid and really can off set the GTs mpg.

You argued the inefficiency of the engine's and why Ford should define a HiPo engine to put it in the Mustang and I showed you were that thought process didn't carry over to actuality.

IIRC, CAFE won't affect low-volume cars so there's no reason why Ford wouldn't use a 650+hp TTV6 in a low-volume Mustang application.

I agree they could do the 650 HP in low volume but are the halo mustang buyers ready to accept that? They have to know their target audience, this wouldn't be the GT with extremely low production number and an instant collectible. From everything I see I don't think the target audience is ready for a V-6 TT, specially if the competition is still selling V-8's. I was suggesting they sell a 500 hp more fuel-efficient version and test the market.

ttime500, the halo Mustang guys are laughing at 500+hp... if it's not higher output Jan a ZL1, there'll be a riot... if there's less than a 707hp Hellcat, there'll be a riot...

Whether it's a TTV6 or force-induction V8, it better clearly make over 707hp or else Ford will lose street cred and sales.

Wouldn't bother me a bit if the number is lower as long as the car drives better than either of those.

I have not once said a V6 TT should be a halo Mustang! I said you could probably use it as your new Mustang GT. The halo Mustang is going to have to be at least 700 hp and a V-8. You said a 650 hp V6 TT could be the next halo mustang, and I think that would be a terrible idea as long as the competition sells V-8 in there halo vehicles

And the same people in your shoes said that a TTV6 wouldn't sell in the Raptor, yet........:ford:

I honestly think a force-induced V8 will have to reside in the next GT500, however who would've guessed that Ford would've put a FPC in a Mustang and not a GT first?

If the GT goes to a V6, they will loose the majority of V8 buyers.

I'd buy a frikin Camaro before I bought a V6 anything.

I've never said it wouldn't sell on the raptor, I don't think the following and the heritage is really comparable though for the raptor and mustang. Ya I was pretty surprised by the FPC in mustang and not GT. How is the raptor selling so far?
