Hmmm, so remove the stripes, have the car done in Xpel, and have the stripes reinstalled on top of the film? How positive are you that that can be done!? Probably would cost more to have the shop remove the stripes and reinstall them though compared to just cutting a few different pieces for the clear bra, and the stripes would still be susceptible damage then :(
Im 100% sure it can be done. It is only more expensive if you use OEM stripes, which are marked way up. The cost breakdown is something like this. Remove stripes (takes 5 minutes, they are vinyl and peel off easily), apply complete hood, re-apply stripes. If OEM you have to buy an entire set at like $600. If you just re-do the bumper and hood with aftermarket vinyl it's $200 max. Yes, they look identical, no, they are not OEM.. I know some people are weird about that. On my car I didn't get stripes, I will apply the PPF then apply satin stripes, solid color ($30 for the vinyl). Yes, the vinyl is unprotected, I can replace it for $30. I could apply it and PPF over, but then you need 5 paces of ppf, so something like this;

2x 12 by 58 inch xpel stealth PPF pieces, 2x 36"x 58" clear XPEL/3m/suntek whatever, 1x 12"x58 inch clear. So 5x 58" of PPF with a ton of waste (smallest ppf roll is 12", the middle bit in between the stripes is all of 3 inches). So it ends up costing more, and you have 4 seams.

In the end they look basically the same, but with no seams you have no chance of lifting, contamination, etc. I do this for a living and I chose to apply the ppf then apply the stripe over it.

The OEM stripes are only $600 when ordering from the factory, when ordering from Ford Parts, my local dealer quoted me $4500 LOL guess they really don't want people trying to replicate the R look :lol:

Assuming that once the OEM stripes are removed, that they can't be reinstalled? If so, I will probably just install the film around the stripes. At least then if I ever had a tear or something on one side of the hood or bumper, just one piece would have to be removed/replaced as opposed to having to take off the entire piece and reinstall stripes etc.

Got a call from a Canadian dealership today offering me a 2017 GT350R that they presently have at their dealership.

This car is Lightning Blue with Black OTT stripes and electronics package.

Chassis number is "HR038" so obviously an early car. They just sold "HR036" which was a Magnetic and Black stripe car.

That is all the good news but the bad news is they want a $25K ADM.

Will they negotiate down, I suspect so but don't know how much.

Anyone interested PM me and I will provide you with the dealership name, contact and phone number.

:cheers:

My local dealer wants $120,000 CDN for their '17 350 R. That works out to $92,151 USD

Yup my Dealer wants 10k Can. over, I think I can get him down.
Sad thing is if I were buying they would sell it at MSRP.
but then you pay tax twice, its still 15 K over.
We pay 15% tax, its a killer here, but reality.

FYI, stripes for the non-R GT350 run about the same price. I'm going to install the clear bra over the stripes. 99% sure the stripes will come off when I remove it in the future. That's when I'll remove all stripes and go aftermarket.

Either that or have a rock-peppered front end.

I think Ryan is close to a deal, hopefully he will update everyone soon.
It's Justin, but I'll forgive you :D

I have made a deal with them and will be purchasing after all, will be putting my deposit down tomorrow morning once I fly back home tonight. Could not get MSRP, but considering what some others are paying and being sold at, considering myself extremely lucky.

I'll confirm the deal in the morning once I pay the deposit so that I can say pricing details and give a shout out to the dealer I am working with.

PUMPED to be able to buy this R, and the best part is it is already built and awaiting to be shipped from Flatrock!!!

:D :D :D

For now though, I will give a HUGE shout out to ohtobbad, as he is the sole reason this is all possible for me. You made it happen for me man, can't possibly thank you enough, as this truly is the car of a lifetime for me. You rock man!

Just got word that "HR038" has been sold and knowing this dealership they probably got their $25,000 ADM.:headbonk:

In spite of the Canadian peso being where it presently is people up in the Great White North are still paying big dollars for these elusive R models.

Only 6 more sleeps until I take possession of "HR019". :clap2:

Even in my old age of 65 when it comes to Boss/Shelby Mustangs I am still like a little kid in a candy shop or like it is Christmas morning all over again just like it was way back in the 50's!:D

Can't wait!

:thumbsup::thumbsup: :ford:

Outstanding and congratulations Justin!!!

Knowing this situation pretty well TR could have certainly gone many ways with this R model including buying it for himself.

This is the kind of situation that is really nice to see especially for someone that looks to be very pumped and sincere over this great car.

TR, nice job man as I know you had a lot of influence over this allocation!

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Absolutely sir, without TR, this never would have been possible. It's pretty crazy the timing, that I just so happened to post a thread on here, honestly not expecting anything to come of it, more of a general curiosity more than anything, and then a gentleman reaches out to me, and then goes out of his way, taking time out of his own day, to help me secure the vehicle and get a better price on it as well.

Honestly it's a little overwhelming, and still kind of hard to believe really, and I just count myself so dam lucky to be in the right place at the right time to come across TR.

I'll post again tomorrow when the details are sorted out, but the car is Shadow Black with White OTT! Has a "Punisher" theme going on in my mind, think the colour scheme looks pretty badass! Not many pictures on here of that combo though... I'll have to fix that when I take delivery :D :D :D

Congrats my friend. This sounds amazing.

Damn I'm almost to embarrassed to ask, but is there another allocation at that dealer?
