You can call performance like so many before you, they can tell you status.
Where you car is, if sitting at plant, railcard or shipped.
Let me know when shipped, I have friend at Auto port.
I even met the person who drop mine of the train LOL.
Some of us become a little obsessed with this :)
Definitely going to call them on Monday! Be great if it was already shipped! Did you? Haha made sure he was going to treat it nice I assume :D

Don't blame you there, I've had vehicles taken for joyrides before... Not a good situation! And I am pretty well obsessed at this point, just super excited to take delivery haha

They will not take it for a test drive. As far as how much you want done,
they will follow your instructions. The bunch in the detail shop took pride in being
able to detail the car. They will save everything for you, if you want.
Macphee Ford has a good group of people.
The Mechanic who will prep it, got the first RS in north America.
He is a real car guy also.

Well that's really great to hear, takes a bit of worry and anxiety away the whole ordeal. Yeah Don mentioned on the phone if I wanted to retain the window sticker and all of the other small details, thought that was really cool honestly; very similar to when I picked up my AMG.

Question for you though man, not sure just how "particular" you are about car detailing, but I've hear some people say that they've told dealerships not to detail the car during PDI, to let the owner do the washing and the clay and the paint correction and what have you after they pick it up. When I pick the car up, it will be going into a shop in Moncton within the next day or so to have the entire car wrapped in XPEL. Would you recommend letting the dealer detail the car prior to pickup, or let the clear bra installer detail the car fully before installing the film?

I know they will have to do a small detail in terms of getting the car clean and ready for the film regardless, but do you think they would be better equipped to perform the paint correction and those other small details than the dealers guys??

I also read about the "blocks" that would be in the suspension on the R during shipment, and that the suspension has to be recalibrated upon delivery, did they do that for yours? Or how long does it take them to prep the car once they receive it on hand?

I'm getting way too excited, if Ford tells me the car has been shipped already tomorrow, I'm going to be doing a happy dance  :D

Here is a list of issues that you might give some thought to prior to receiving your car.

1. Do you want a front licence plate bracket installed on your car.
2. Do you want the front splitter installed on your car or do you want to have that done back home.
3. When your car has the PDI done make sure that the shipping blocks are removed and saved for you. Yellow blocks in the front springs and white blocks in the rear springs. The suspension will not need to be recalibrated after removal.
4. Do you want someone driving your car to the local gas station in order to provide a full tank of gas or leave it as is.
5. Did the car cover arrive for your car and is the owners manual in the glove box.
6. Do you want all the plastic left in place on the seats, steering wheel, door sill plates and rear carbon fiber wing.
7. Do you want the Window Sticker left in place on the inside of the passengers window along with all of the other exterior stickers/labels/bar codes. I suggest that you request that the dealer order a second Window Sticker for you at no cost to you and have it sent to you as always good to have a second WS for your car.
8. With respect to washing and/or waxing the car do you want a hand wash done by their detailer or receive as is.

I am sure other members on this forum can add to the above list but at least a few things to think about. Some of the above items are of concern to some people and not to others so each to his own.

Good luck and I am sure that this dealership will do an outstanding job delivering the car to you!

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Appreciate the extensive list! Definitely a few things on there that had not crossed my mind at all.

Will definitely not require a front license plate as my province, luckily and thank god, does require one. I'm going to request that the splitter be left uninstalled until have the XPEL installed. Perhaps I can drop back to them after the clear bra is on and they will install then!? :)

I will probably request that Don fill the car with gas, I trust him and TR has mentioned that he is a car guy himself. But if I am having the XPEL wrap done, and also getting them to tint my windows at the same time, would it be best to leave the plastics on the seats do you think?

Just to break down the relative timeline; I fly out of work and get home on Thursday nights. If the car is already at the dealer, then Friday morning I will be hitting the road to drive across the province and get the ferry across. So that would basically eat up all of Friday, with me taking delivery on the Saturday. Sunday is kind of a dead day since nothing is open then, but I will be dropping the car off to have the XPEL and tint done on Monday morning.

So I'm wondering if it may be better to leave the plastics on until I get to the XPEL installer? And do you think it would be better for those guys to perform a full detail of the car, or have the dealership do the detail during PDI?

Thanks for clarifying regarding the suspension as well, will definitely keep the blocks. Don already mentioned to me if I would like the sticker and all the other labels and whatnot kept in good condition, which I thought was a very nice touch!

The more I discuss these fine details, the more real this is all becoming... Going to have trouble sleeping soon :D

PP0001 has covered most of it.
I had mine done with high end ceramic coating.
the detailer spent 12 hours prepping car.
So paint correcting could take some time.
I would let Ford detail shop give it a basic wash and nothing more.
This gets the train and road grime off it.
as far as prepping it for expel, I would have the shop that is installing do it.
if not installing splitter, get the install video, which is here somewhere.

Hi Justin,
Glad you got your car.
I'm not too sure what Sherwood ford in Sherwood Park, Alberta has for dealer markup but I know that they get a good allocation of R's each year.

Appreciate the advice TR, will probably just have them do a basic wash as you mentioned. Hmmm had no idea paint correction could take so long; couple that with a full car XPEL wrap and I feel like they will need it for 3-5 days. Going to call tomorrow though to confirm and get a quote. Did you have the ceramic pro applied to the wheels as well?

Thanks man! As you can imagine, very very excited :D

Appreciate the heads up, I'm sure someone on here still looking will make use of that info! Although I doubt I would have gotten a better deal than I have lined up now, even my local dealer was selling for 10K over, so I am very fortunate indeed!

Yes, I don't believe it did much for the paint protection, but is very easy to clean
and never any swirl marks. xpel will likely give you same end result.

Certainly hoping so! I just called Ford Performance and my car is still sitting in Flat Rock :(:brokenheart:

They said the last update was that it came back from the "mod shop" on the 18th, so I assume that is when it had the carbon fibre rear spoiler installed?

TR, when you found out that the car was on its way, how long did it then take to get from Flat Rock to you? My next week off after this will be the week of August 15th, am desperately hoping that it might get shipped out this week, and be at the dealer for my next time back.

Mine like many here drove me nuts, in went from done to rail yard, sat 2 weeks,
then back to plant, then finally released, once on the train it took about 3/4day to get
to Auto port, it sat their for 4 days :( then boom it was at dealership.
I got there about 8 minutes after it come off the truck and yes it was loaded wrong.
Lucky for me, no damage no major issues.
Build date was Nov. 23 I received it Jan 19th I think.
But that was last year when everyone waited excruciating long to get cars.
Your pain will be far less. Also yours will be shipped in summer, no fear of the R tires
being frozen and cracked etc. and you will get to drive it this, I would bet on it :)

So what do you think the odds are that it could be delivered by August 12th!? Haha thinking about bringing a truck and an enclosed trailer to bring it back, the XPEL installer quoted me $6500 cash to do the whole car... So I can get it done for a little less than half of that locally

According to google maps it's only about a 22 hour drive from Flat Rock to Dartmouth, so I figured less than a week once it actually shipped to getting delivered at the dealer. Where is the auto port you speak of? Is that local to you TR?

Is there any way to make sure or notify them to load the vehicle correctly?? Really don't want to show up and have the car damaged and the immediately have a warranty claim and having to try and get it sorted from a province away :(
