GT350R as daily driver

Drove my R daily for the first 10K miles in factory config. Ran 6GR setup for 8K miles more after that. It performed great as my daily.

Cannot take credit for this. Is was on another thread but too awesome not to use it every chance I get. Not that you said anything about resale but you know there are those guys around. You don't want your awesome car to get jacked up which I am sure we all feel that way. Most of us don't have an R to worry about though.

Thank Mr Adair for his input...I'll just second that with a slightly different perspective. I dd mine and I love it...though, obviously, clearance on driveway entrances is an issue and be prepared to have people video'ing you all the time. The different perspective from me is: it's the most expensive car I've ever owned (so I don't see it as a 'cheap' anything) but there's no way I'd spend the money on the car if I weren't going to wring it out every chance I get.

Well stated. I probably chose my words wrong. Any car at the price of an R is expensive. After selling my GT3 the only two cars I considered were the GT350R or a Porsche GT4. Since I have experienced several German GT cars over the years I decided to go in a different direction with the R. I couldn't be happier. It's a testimony to how good the R is. All credit to Ford. Over on the Rennlist forum MANY GT3 and GT3RS owners are buying an R. I'm a firm believer in driving these cars as they were intended. That doesn't mean you can't still take great care of them..

What difference does it make if someone doesn't own an R but replies? Is there a forum rule somewhere that states....you must own the car in the question or you can't respond? Must've missed that one.

I'd daily mine and mines a base model, no worries, I love it. I have my raptor for daily driving tho so it sits for the weekends.

I would daily drive an R but I would run aftermarket or standard 350 wheels with different runner. Save the carbon and cup 2's for track days.

Wrap the car and get tires that don't throw rocks at the body. The cup 2's are a rock throwing machine.

Opinion 1: Replace the wheels and splitter with non-R or similar and go to town. Literally.

Opinion 2: Depends on your daily routine. No fucking way I'd drive my R daily on my traffic and pothole riddled commute. The one day I decided to drive my car to work the windshield was shattered by a rock kicked up by a truck.

Opinion 3: Absolutely not. There are much better cars to daily in any scenario.

My net-net: I tend to think it's not a great idea.

I think of it as a smiles per miles situation. I don't have an R but I am dd'ing my 350. I've only put 300 miles on it but I've also only had it for a week.

Mine is a DD. Picked it up December 1st.

Ran the Cup2s out on the street and slush and rain. Put on the Michelin Super Sports 315/325.

Just picked up new wheels for it last week though. BC Forged. I'll post pictures soon.

5000km on it or so now. 1 track day, couple more scheduled.

Makes a great DD, imo. Drive it in the rain or sun. Even had it in some slush/snow (that was dumb).
