Rumor and speculation. I saw that GM order sheet and in 15 minutes I could add an LT6 option to that document and post it. It could also be GM just trying to get the rumor mill working overtime. Seems they succeeded. Don't be a victim of rumors. 2 months ago there was going to be a 17 GT500. Anyone see that happening now? Rumors have been rampant about a mid engine Corvette since the 60's. Now many are sure it will happen in the next couple years. I highly doubt it. I'll believe it when GM officially announces the DOHC. Until then, it's pure speculation.
I heard a rumor in November that trump wasn't gonna win either but he did lol.

Don't get me started on Trump! I just don't have the strength :)

Happy holiday buddy.

Track guys don't typically want a PD blower. As noted, it suffers from heat soak. There are hundreds of stories of Z06 lap times falling drastically after a couple of laps. I expect to see the same thing from the ZL1. I think GM no longer cares about making good track cars. GM did no favors to track day guys when they added a PD blower to the Z06.
Cooling issues allegedly have been addressed on the 2017 Z06 and the ZL1. Heat soak can be greatly minimized on pd blowers. Dodge has shown that with the Hellcats. There is an Ignition episode coming from Motortrend on the ZL1. I guess we'll see if the heatsoak rears it's head. I don't get the ZL1 hate. From what I can tell it's an awesome value right now. I'd like to see it pitted against the beloved 350R. Also, the C7Z06 has some of the fastest lap times in just about every instrumented test, only bested by hypercarss or the Viper ACR, all which cost more. Your comment is laughable. Ford makes nothing to compete with top Vettes, yet GM is the one with the problem? This GT350 really has made people crazy.

I don't get why you people compare a ZL1 to a GT350. Put a blower or turbo on the GT350 and kiss the ZL1 bye bye for good.
How do you say 75hp is the "safe limit"
How and where do you see a 850whp LT4?
A coyote can do more hp and has done so already.
Talk you out of it?
Every single car website or magazine still talks about the gt350/r today like it just came out yesterday. It's still winning awards. Don't see any Camaro doing that with the same unchanged car for the past 3 years.
I didn't mean to get members blood pressure up. The car is wonderful but I would like more power. The 75 (give or take) HP comes from headers, intake and a tune. That is about all that can be done to safely bring up the Voodoo's power other than FI. Until I see several others using FI with good results I am going to shy away. My engine has been replaced once and the new engine is using oil (so far a quart every 750 miles).

You have quite a bit of knowledge on this platform. How can the car be brought up to 600 wheel HP without FI? I ask this not as a challenge to you. If it can be done that would be awesome.

From the interwebs and other sources the LT4 can be reliably run up to 800 wheel HP. Below are 2 examples.

800 hp build with minimal (under $3000) invested. Yes the music and video are hard to watch but you asked.

This is just a very fun hobby to me. Please don't take it the wrong way. I am sorry if I have insulted anyone. Just making conversation which is what forums are all about.

Happy new year :chill:

Why the hate for the zl1? This isn't a Chevy forum, what did you expect? Besides, I don't think anyone is hating on the ZL1, when it starts winning races, then we will open our eyes a little more. I'd like to see the zl1 pitted against the next GT500 it's true competitor... Ford is dragging their feet but I have no doubt it will happen within a year.

Love the GT350... Especially the R. But the new ZL1 is a track BEAST. Nothing wrong with some seriously healthy competition tho. I'm guessing the new GT500 is gonna be a scary animal.

The ZL1 deserves respect, but it will NEVER win what the 350/R has... it's too simple and prone.

If I'm not mistaken it took over 10 radiators to keep that supercharger cool, along with various hood openings... that means the car is still super hot and prone.

I'm just waiting for the next big Ford technomarvel... maybe they'll put a forced wankel in a Fiesta, and if they did I'd be all over it like a fat kid in a candy store.

The GT350 is an amazing car but that ZL1 is quite a beast. I will admit, the 350 is just not fast enough to hold my attention. It is a downer that another 75 or so wheel horsepower is about the safe limit. With the LT4 850 wheel HP is fairly easy and reliable to boot. Talk me out of it PLEASE!!
It's not always about having the biggest . . . . . HP number.

Supporting a whole lot more power - read, forced induction - costs weight and generally hurts weight distribution. Wrong way to go for a road course-intended car, do the driver mod thing instead.

There's nothing wrong with you buying the ZL-1 if that's what you prefer. Not sure why you'd want to be talked out of it. You should buy one and enjoy it. Good luck to you!

I'm not saying the voodoo can be brought up to 600 rwhp without FI. IM just saying to compare a factory stock car is odd to me. One is NA. The other is FI.
I bought the GT350 because I love NA and prefer it over FI. I knew going into this that aftermarket and power figures were going to be scarce. What I don't get is people that bought the GT350 and now want to complain about it not having 650+ hp just because the competition has it. Maybe they need a GT500 or to just add a blower/turbo to their gt350.

If you bought the car for its dominating speed and horsepower, youve wasted your money. Wrong car buddy.

On another note, I can't wait to see GM's DOHC V8 that's coming out in 2018 in the Corvette.
One of the reasons I have kept my gt350 is mechanically the car is great. As for speed? My car has been a beast. On all the track, street and strip. This is why I bought the "true base". Much less "nannies" and the best of the gt350's in unobtained glory.

Most people don't know but ALL 3 gt350 models for 16' have a completely different PCM software load? put all 3 PCM's up on torque, fuel mapping, yaw and traction intervention, motor and trans thresholds, suspension position to HP output curve and tps to fuel ratio graphs and you will see why the 16' tech packs have so many issues. Just a hidden secret? Run all 3 at the track, strip, accelerating, g's and so and see which is faster and performs the best? Not the tech! Maybe not the "R"? Re-flash PCM complete with "R" calibrations to tech and see what happens then? Different car? Much different results. Where did limp mode go on the track? Disappeared?

Got this info from someone that works within F-"*

That is why the 17' has the identical PCM programming between track and tech packs and perform virtually the same.

These cars as I said before are probably the most technologically advanced produced in the USA but that same technology has created many of the same problems for the gt350.

All I can say is my car has run against numerous iron from everyone and on the road course I have done incredible including polishing off more than a handful of Porsche's (Cayman's, Turbo and Gt3's) and everything else around the track. At the strip a little different but my car's best time is a corrected 11.8 in the quarter. Have won and lost. Not bad. on a clear street only car that has seemed to crush me has been the GT-R repeatedly then a Porsche turbo, Hellcat and a new z06 here and there. Not many and usually by a length or so.

Like I said speed and performance have been very very strong on my car. That being said the usual fit and finish, ford and dealer let downs overweighed my gt350 experience. Great car. Still too new? About 2500 miles but just too much BS from the dealers and then no support from Ford to get simple things covered under warranty. That has been a joke.

Supercharged cars in general do not make the best track day cars. Put all the coolers you want on but heat soak will eventually catch up with you. FI is great for a drag track but SUCKS on a road course track. When GM decided to put a SC on the new Z06, and offer it with an auto, they did track day fans no favors. In my view, track day cars need to be N/A. The ZL1 just came out. Give it time and you'll see all the track issues that come up.
