An impromptu photo shoot at a car show this past weekend. The owner was very kind to agree to it.

Awesome! 6S139 is a carry over car, the ultimate early GT350 IMO, part 65, part 66.

So I did not get a chance to speak to him in detail about it as every time I went by he was previously engaged. What information can you provide as it appears you own one of these Shelbys? What do you mean carry over car? What do you mean part 65 and part 66?

The first 252 66 GT350's built were built on 65 chassis and are commonly called "carry over" cars, assuming the license plate is the car's VIN, SFM6S139 is one of those. My 66 is a later than that, SFM6S1757.

The carry over website has great info....https://carryovergt350.com/

The ride height comparison is what catches my eye. The old girl is just so much taller - more ground clearance than most crossovers these days!

Great photo op!

Interesting how the paints differ despite being the same color.
Maybe it darkened over time from the sunlight like lumber does?

Colors absolutely change over time.

Those are great pics! I hope my 2020 still looks good down the road because the 1965 still looks amazing!

A comment on old vs new. I have restored several old Shelby's and have now owned a 17 and a 19. After you get over all of the nostalgia from driving the original Shelby's, the new cars are so good they probably make you feel the way someone who got out of a Model A and drove a 65 Shelby felt. They have been great investments but are mostly suited for collections and shows.
Here are a couple pictures after the restorations, all three were shown in SAAC concours division II. We were allowed non NOS parts as long as they were correct. Example: the exhaust systems were licensed by Ford but recently built to original specification including date codes and part numbers.

Depends on what you want to do with the car. I restored my 66 as a driver, and it's driven year round, going to shows is only a small part of that. Does it compare to the new cars performance wise? Not a chance, but it has a raw appeal that leaves a smile on my face for a week every time I drive it. With a stock looking 347 pushing 400HP and only 2900 lbs it has plenty of pop. Just wish I could find decent performance tires for the original 14" 10-spoke wheels...
