Put them on a road course, you'll see a different result, especially if you run more than 15 or 20 minutes and the 'stang goes into limp trying to keep up. The 1LE is an outstanding handling car with far better hard core track equipment than what Ford puts on the Mustang. If I bought a new pony car tomorrow it would be an SS1 1LE, without a doubt.

I don't get the constant needling back and forth between Mustang/Camaro guys. They've both got their pros and cons, but under the skin, we're all car guys aren't we?

Cool video. This should inspire the ricer roll racers to buy Mustang.

Who really buy a camaro to do some racetrack ? I mean a lot , more than twice a year. There is so many choices of used car like porsche, corvette etc that you can modifiy and you don t really care to crash. Who here drives like Randy ?

PP2 with 305 all round much closer. 255 on the front cant hold a car this big at speed. I have a PP1 on order I will never track it. I may go to the drag strip and do some hot dog driving on a mountain road. I want to see the USA and no mater what the old song says, you can't see anything out of a Camaro. :)

My 16 GT can run thru the twistys for hours and I am happy, were I to track the mustang, yes it would need additional brake cooling & trans too. I got what I paid for and with only $900 worth of suspension mods and wider tires I can enjoy my adventure.

My pal has a 17 1ss 1le. He rubs it with microfiber towels and takes pictures of it. It looks cool sitting there!

Randy Probst driving around Willow.

Look at the times of Camaro and Mustang compared to the other competition. Dollar wise for these two car's, not bad company.

Mustang GT is great middle of the road car for the daily driver and the occasional track day.
Camaro SS-1LE is a more track focused car but not a great everyday driver.

I think the PP2 will easily keep up or surpass the 1LE on the track. And it's comfy to drive!

I've owned a 2017 SS and a 2015 gt. There is no comparison and two completely different cars. Camaro is smaller lighter and indeed faster. The mustang is more comfortable and has better looks inside and out. Much much easier to modify and way cheaper mods too. I'll tell you this-i switched back to a 2014 gt500 after owning both of those cars. I might try out a 2018 gt. But I'm not sure yet.

Hey, that's pretty good for a cheap car! Cheapest one of the bunch, still hangs out with the big dogs...

So a base gt is a few seconds slower around a track than the le1? Is that what we're seeing here?
Pretty much, it was a premium pp1 Mustang. I'll take the Mustang! Google search Randy Probst mustang gt and you can watch full review.

I get it. It’s fun! I missed it for a couple of decades. The kind of car you own matters squat in real car racing. Don’t even ask me why. I worked in places where the guy on my left was a sponsored racer and the guy on my right was another sponsored racer. And they raced in a series where everyone drove the same make of car. That is racing. The video above is ultimately about car sales and fanboys. Street racing is won more by skill than the cars. But what do I know...
