GT vs GTR

Mustang GTs are fast, fast, fast. Looking over the specs my first thought would be never happen too. Me, I wouldn't consider it knowing the GTR specs and reps.

But..thinking through the 1- 2 second difference, I think who's driving along with all the other variables on a chance meeting and it's possible.

Cars faster than the Stock GT beware, don't slip or make a mistake. If you do, we might just take that 1 -2 second advantage with your fast shifting auto tranny, in a chance meeting, away from you.

I "raced" a modded GTR in my modded '11 GT. He gave me 3 cars and went past me like I was standing still. I've never seen a car move like that before. I'd call it a race, but a grown man punching a baby isn't exactly a fight.

A sport bike did that to me once. It was amazing. I might as well have been in reverse.

I also remember losing to a minivan (coworker) at the stoplight next to work. I was trying to give him a slight head start, but I ended up too slow. I was catching him fast as we got close to the speed limit. I bet that minivan runs an 18 second quarter mile. Still beat me.

So noone got the jump-to-light speed option on their S550? I think it was separate from the 401a package, no?

I have both cars. Really no comparison. GTR was probably not in R-mode and no launch, even then not sure he was trying hard. All that said, I do love my new mustang. Two very different cars.

It was separate. Sad thing is, it doesn't show up on my DORA anywhere and I know I ordered it??!!

Dude...I'm pretty sure I checked that box too, but alas mine doesn't have it. Guess that's why these damned P-cars keep whizzing by. Oh well.

Hung out at a Cars & Coffee yesterday in SD. Owner of this GT-R was as cool as they come, also owns a 2011 track Mustang. Anyway he asked if I wanted to go for a ride, like a giddy kid I was in the passenger seat right away. Let me preface this by saying I'm 52 and I have riode/driven in a fair share of quick street cars. Haven't been in a Viper - but this "thing" is The Quickest street car I have Ever been in. 545 h/p, AWD. From light-to-light this GT-R is simply insane. Not saying the OP didn't get the better of one, this particular GT-R is a 2014.

Very believable, if he was sleeping at the light(1-2 second reaction time) it would take him 1/4 to catch you and then fly past like you were sitting still...

Just don't think it would happen with everything equal, good launch reaction time etc.

The GTR is exhilarating to drive, but in a different way. I've gotten to drive a few, and it's like the car is doing most of the work. You point, and tell it to go, and you're there by the time you stop pointing. As incredible as that feeling is, it does kinda feel... Artificial? But in a good way. It's tough to explain. Maybe to describe it, a new GT is a tiger while a GTR is a killer cyborg. One is feral, the other is tactical.

That being sad, the new GTR romps on z06s. The z06 romps on the base c7, and the c7 still beats the GT. The GT has a few tiers to fight through lol.

Idc if it happened or not, even if this happened to me I wouldn't post it on here with video. I raced my buddy's C6 corvette and had him by a car, I don't bother saying anything to anyone as I know its not really in the cars capability but the driver. The 5.0 isn't in the same league. The other guy could be the worst driver on earth the GTR doesn't require skill, it just destroys. Having said that, I loathe the GTR for that reason. Its funny watching video where the car slightly loses its composure and the driver just doesn't know what to do. Usually doesn't end well.
