So I was visiting some family in Canada over the weekend located in Hamilton Ontario. Went on a cruise around the city with a friend and ran into a 2007-2009 R35 GTR at a red light around 1am, he had his gf in the passenger seat. The guy started to rev his car at me which the exhaust was pretty quite compared to my sport from ford racing so I'm assuming he was 100% stock. I gave him a thumbs up anyway as I know what the car is capable of and I have respect for it.

So light turns green and I rip it out of the hole off idle with good traction, power shift 1-2, 2-3 at 6500rpm and 3-4 at 6500 rpm By 100mph he caught up to my rear bumper and let off do to a turn coming up. I was super surprised I stayed ahead and if that turn was not there he would pull ahead of me for sure. GTR didn't use launch control during this race and left me alone, he did not want to play again.

Are you sure he was serious? Or was it some kid in dads toy who wasn't quite sure how to launch the GTR. Stock or not he should have pulled a car length at 50 feet and then should have really pulled away. That's a high 11 second car and mid 3's 0-60.

I get what your saying I expected it to sling shot past me, I did get the jump on him off the line maybe he did not expect me to go and maybe he hit it after I switched to 2nd but he did rev at me as he wanted to race at red light. Could care less if he was in snow mode and using shift paddles he still lost to a mustang lol.

Now if he was really prepared in race mode with launch control I'm sure he would of walked me right off the line. The guy seemed to be in his early 30s and had a cute asian girl with him.

Seriously buddy, he wasn't trying. It's a sub 3 second to 60 car with a super smooth and mega quick auto gearbox.

Although I haven't even been in a S550 yet, I have a good friend who has a GTR and I've had quite a few passenger laps on an open track day, he WAS racing and was up against some serious exotica, nothing passed him.

Even a non 'launch control' launch is brutally fast. I came out that car and felt I had gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson and I felt sick!

Trust me, he wasn't racing.

No.

Just... no. Unless there's video, I'm not going to believe it.

Driver makes a huge difference. If you miss the launch by a fraction of a second or hit the throttle too hard and spin - doesn't necessarily matter if you're in a faster car.

For that matter, if you're cheap, don't drive the car a lot and have 4 or 5 year old tires on it - that will make a tremendous difference.

Heck, at 1 am the guy could have been half in the bag.

Too many details. I believe it happened.

I believe it, 5.0'S ARE the fastest cars ever. High 12 car vs low 11 car
2008 Nissan GT-R Compare Car
0-60 mph 3.5 | Quarter mile 11.6

You mean mid 11 for GTR and mid 12 for mustang....I never said a mustang is faster than a GTR as I'm very aware of these cars. I have no reason to come on here and make up a bs story lol....But if he gave me 1 sec head start I could clearly win and the race wasn't a full 1/4mile.

lol @ the "impossible to beat gtr" comments.

They are fast cars that make it easy to go fast.

But not unbeatable.

In 2010, I was being "bullied" by a mean ol' gtr driver.

So I left him in the dust on a highway in LA... Or was it Mexico...

The best part was the ricer flyby he pulled after I braked well ahead of traffic. Then you KNOW somebody is all hurt inside. :)

And this in my lowly 2003 Cobra.

The new ones are faster. But still not unbeatable. And it may depend on how the guy was driving.

It SHOULD beat the mustang from a dig every time based on traction alone. A roll is a different story.

Final words:

Good kill.

We all know what should happen here...but anything can happen on the street.

In the wrong gear, other guy gets the hit, your playing catch up for 3 seconds, traction issues, not paying attention, no driver mod....many things can happen.

All these cars aren't autonomous self-driving google machines...there's always the human factor and more often than not the human error that can explain why one car beat another.

The human wasn't racing, that's a factor. Yeah, I forgot it has 4 wheel drive as well.

I'm not saying that the OP didn't go from point A-B quicker than the GTR, I don't believe it was a race, that's all:thumbsup:

Early R35 GTRs are only 1 second quicker in 1/4 mile but sure he was only going quarter throttle while I was power shifting to catch up with me. Apparently all GTRs run 2.5 0-60 with high 10s in 1/4

Now, now, I hope that's not a teddy on the floor? Mate, I believe you, you covered a distance, the same distance as a faster car quicker, nice one:clap2:

I passed a Veyron today in my Mrs Diesel Turbo, he didn't know I was racing him though.

I'm pulling your chain, its all good
