Why do a lot of you folks prefer 3.55gears or 3.31 gears over the 3.73gears?
Looking back at my 2011 car I wish I had the 3.55's instead of the 3.73's. Main reason was because of my driving applications. I spent a lot of time in cruise and sustained medium speed driving so I was always at weird RPM's. If I had the 3.55's, it would have been better for me over the long run. I also did a lot of autocross and I would run out of gear with 3.73's ALL the time. It's just what you want out of the car. If you're drag racing or autocrossing, you'll probably want the 3.55's so you do'nt run out of gear. If you're on the road course all the time or a track rat, my goodness those 3.73's are the business.

Just wondering how many GT Performance Package drivers feel it was worth the money & did you go ahead and mod your suspension further afterwards?
What parts of the GT Performance Package you liked the most and what could you have done without?

  • 19" X 9" (F) 19” X 9.5” (R) Ebony Black-Painted Aluminum Wheels
  • 255/40R19 (F) 275/40R (R) Summer Only Tires
  • Brembo™ Six-Piston Front Brake Calipers with Larger Rotors
  • "Engine Turn" Aluminum Instrument Panel
  • Gauge Pack (Oil Pressure and Vacuum)
  • Heavy-Duty Front Springs
  • K-Brace
  • Larger Radiator
  • Spoiler Delete
  • Strut-tower Brace
  • Unique Chassis Tuning
  • Upsized Rear Sway Bar
  • Unique Stability Control, EPAS & ABS Tuning
Totally worth it. Before getting my GT PP, I had an ecoboost. When test driving GT's I couldn't believe how wallow-y they felt in comparison. Like my old Cadillac.
The PP was a necessity for my preferences.

The P-Zero's are ok, they don't last long (somewhat expected).

Same here....the leather is the ONLY thing I like about the premium. I want speed in a meat n' potatoes format. No use for multi-colored lighting, puddle pony, etc. Won't help me go faster.

But if I do want the leather when I pull the trigger, I guess I have to get seat covers.

Same.
The only things I wanted from the premium were leather and touch screen. So for $1,000 I put them in my self.

Katzkins in my opinion are better than what you get in the Premium.

Aren't they also around $1500-$2000 for a set? I'm seeing the take-offs from premium trims going for around $500 for a full set of front and back seats.

As for the touch screen, it annoys me and I see it as a drawback. Plus in a few years I expect the tech will be obsolete and malfunctioning. From my research of touch screens in vehicles in general, this is the feedback I've received.

Something does not sound right there. For a '17 on ford.ca it is $3700 - which is what I also paid for it on my '15.
I'll have to find my Window Sticker... I don't think that the PP was $5K. I want to say $3400 for mine in 2016... Could be mistaken though.

Ultimately, the PP is very much worth it for me though. Larger Rad, 3:73s, Brembos, and Strut Tower bracing were what I was looking for. Everything else was just a bonus. I'm not a big fan of the PP wheels, they're going to be used for Winter only now. Same thing would've happened to any of the stock wheels though.

Well, the grass is always greener, I guess!

I ordered my 2011 GT/BBP and paid for the 3.55 ratio for exactly the reasons that you mentioned...and while it pulls perfectly well, I drive it pretty seldom for long distances....and I'm usually ripping around on back roads so I would love to have had little bit more gear. :D

With an S550, it seems like you'd definitely want the 3.73s to compensate for the extra fat that you're hauling around.

Love my PP & everything it included except the Pirelli P-Zeros. Swapped them with Michelin Pilot Super Sport and no more issues.. no more understeer, no more wheel spins..
Love the brakes, bigger radiator, extra gauges, wheels.. etc etc etc
Love my 3.73 gears, it's perfect for me. I love to row through my gears and it gives me many shifts during my 4 mile commute.
Looks like the 2018 PP will come with Michelins instead of Pirelli... about time.

Worth it, yes indeed, and I did in fact further mod...IRC supports, Diff bushings, IRS brace, K Brace, and a Steeda rear sway bar.

I'm glad I bought my Mustang with the PP. Given my budget it did mean that I didn't get the color I wanted, but the PP is well worth the money.

I have not done any other suspension modifications; I've superseded the PP amenities only by buying a second set of wheels/tires in a square setup so I can get better mileage and rotate them for street use.

TruU....you must have been trying real hard to blow the tires away on your test drive (or it was cold or a terrible surface). My car, in stock form, had no problems hooking from a very slow roll in first. Quick slip of the clutch, WOT and it was away.

I have two dislikes with the PP: wheels and gears. The wheels have kind of grown in me. It man are they a PITA to clean. And clean them you will with all the brake dust. Secondly, the gears are too much. I had 3.55s in my '13 and loved them. The MT-82 is so tightly ratioed anyway that a 3.73 just makes it seem like a semi truck sometimes...always shifting.

Overall, it's absolutely worth it. Just know what your sacrificing from the beginning and you'll be good to go.
I use wheel cleaner spray, then rinse, then use a wheel cleaning spone with my regular soap. I hit every crevace. I rinse, and still have dust in the corners. Drives me nuts. I just wipe it off with a rag and move on.

I haven't pushed my PP GT all that far yet. I'd really like to hit it more in the curves but I still think it's not the best idea to do it on real roads so I choose my spots carefully. I know I haven't pushed it anywhere near I could. The ride is a bit stiff but it's still much more smooth than my tacoma.

I will say, people love the car from the outside, but after taking a ride all I hear is "man this thing is BADASS." Other than the WOT acceleration blasts, I really think that has to do with the stiff ride and the vaccum gauge bouncing around. That gauge is just super cool..lol

With the PP it really just FEELS like a performance car. It feels "no frills," and I think people enjoy that experience.

I love my PP. I do a lot (95%) of Interstate & highway driving and the gas mileage is not the best but I didn't buy the GT PP for miles per gallon but instead for SMILES per gallon! I also like how well the PP allows the car to get through corners. It's a real blast to drive.

I also like all the extras that come on my Premium as I don't track or drag the car and I find having the extras just make owning the car that much more enjoyable.

My Katzkins with two tone leather and contrast piping, and door inserts, shipped, were under $700.

Tomtop touchscreen with sat nav was $300.

3.73's are short, lots of shifting. 85mph on highway=2800 rpm=19 mpg best.
10 spd auto or 3.31's for me in 2018:thumbsup:

Yes extremely worth it, this is not all inclusive and obviously costs Ford a lot less than this to build from factory, but it puts it into perspective a bit.

The only problem with that image is that it doesn't reflect what Ford saves by not putting the stock (no-PP) parts in. For them there isn't a big difference in cost between the PP parts and non-PP parts. The sum of the parts is much lower than the $2,995.00 that they're currently charging.

THAT SAID, if you were trying to replicate even just a couple of those parts it would cost you the same or more. So it is a "good value" if you want "performance parts", however, if you're planning on going crazy with modding the car in to a track beast with all new suspension, etc. You'll end up replacing most of those part anyway.
