Can you post pic of your washer mod?
I should have taken some pics while doing the work but didn't. I'll pull the radiator cover this evening and see if I can get some photos.

Some people have said doing so causes more air to enter the engine bay and can cause more hood flutter. A set of hood struts will (mostly) fix that though.
Yup. The grill on my California Special lets more air through than the honey comb and the hood fluttering was really noticeable. Installing a set of hood struts pretty much eliminated it.

Here you go. Disclaimer that my cell phone photos aren't the best!

First photo shows placement of the washers on the bolt, under the front bumper cover.

Second photo simply shows the three bolts on the passenger side. There are three more like this on the driver's side.

Last photo simply shows the alignment between my hood and front bumper cover after placement of the washers. Before adding the washers, the front bumper cover sat lower than the leading edge of the hood, and I'm confident that at speed that allowed extra air under the hood, even with the hood seal in place.

I used two washers at each location. The passenger side is perfect, while on the driver's side the hood still sits just above the front bumper cover. I don't have room to move the cover up any more and the hood sits perfect with the front fenders so I am not going to lower it any.

Lastly, I also have Redline Tuning hood struts in place...

This is what I'm considering doing. Did you dremel some of the blocked honeycombs out or did you actually remove a section completely?
I only opened the holes up and left the honeycomb structure. That's why the bird I mentioned before didn't end up as a splat on my air filter.

I ran across a video on Youtube recently where a Ford engineer mentioned that the GT hood extractors were there to help relieve air pressure from under the hood. Heck and I thought they were only for heat reduction.

The CS has a rubber skit behind the grille blocking maybe 1 inch of the grille across the top.

So has anyone painted their radiator? From what I've been able to gather, a light coat of some grill paint has no negative impact on cooling.

Like some Rust-Oleum high heat enamel (even says, 'Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray retains color and finish up to 1200º F. Apply to grills, wood-burning stoves, radiators, engines or other metal items.')

I know there's some specific products for radiators, like Eastwood radiator paint, says it's a lower viscosity to avoid too thick of a coat.

It'll run hotter if painted. Old school copper rads were painted strictly for corrosion resistance. We all know how that worked out lol. Anyways, you could always take a 2 ft section of the weather strip out of the rear of the hood at the raised area. That'll evacuate heat real fast.

Honestly you don't even need a hood. Just delete it and save 75lb and no more heat issue.
