Just wonder for those with a CONICAL filter if it's oiled or dry.
If you also took note of your IAT post that as well.
I seen something very interesting with my setup today.
Wanna see what others have noticed. Thanks.

I keep mine dry, but I also run a thin outer cover. I believe oiling is necessary in HIGH dust environments, but not needed on the average street car.

K&N sells both dry & wet, I've asked them if the media was different dry/wet never got an answer.

Red is sold pre-oiled, blue dry, to add I would think adding a cover decreases the flow. Cone or round the elements are the same.

Heres the next brand equivalent, AFE page for info

https://afepower.com/2015-2016-ford-mustang-s550-performance-products

has both dry/wet filter comparison, looks like (their) dry is 3 layers, and oiled is 5 layers, as oiled lets more through, it needs more nets to catch those dust mites. they also offer a like 7 layer PRO but its only recommended for like the desert.

edit here's all the filter types they have. - you can also have custom ones made with diff layers etc

sorry, I was trying to provide airflow for oiled/dry, so you can use it for assistant data for IAT's. maybe more flow mean higher temps or opposite or some corelation.

for example ,it doesnt pertain but my car, unless I am accelerating, or cruising on highway, my IAT's will continue to climb while driving around, or stay much higher after starting to drive. if I gas it, my temps drop rapidly, but my car evidently doesnt use much air, until you gas it, a vacuum as you should say.

it just isn't hungry for air. ie. it could be 90* IAT, WOT could drop that sucker down to 70*. but as soon as I am done gassing, its like its done sucking in air, and temps will go back to 80s or whatever. it isn't that hungry for air unless in that boost.

cruising on highway, my intake does stabilize at same temperature as ambient. but thats about it. every time I get in boost, the IAT' temps just drop instantly.

Here you can see my IAT at 23c Ambient at 22c. This is in the city. Switched from dry to oiled. Never seen that with the dry filter.

Are you saying the dry filter was not displaying the IAT temp?

It was. Much higher than a oiled one. City driving it was always 10 above ambient, waiting at a light rose quickly, moderate rate to drop. Oiled filter it's been 1-3 about ambient, waiting at a light temps rose a a moderate rate, once moving cool very quickly. It's repeatable.

oiled has much more airflow, thats why I run one. but on a MAF car, I run dry, my other cars are MAF, so I run dry filters. isn't worth risking the sensor from too much oil, cant hurt the ecoboost though load it up
