The other day I was casually on my way to work in my Stang, when I noticed an orange C7 Vette came off an exit ramp. I sped up because I wanted to take a closer look. Apparently he noticed that I sped up and started following him but might have mistaken my interest in his car as a challenge of some sort. We were rolling along at a pretty good pace and he punched it. I was in 5th gear and wasn't expecting that and he left me. I eventually caught him after he slowed down and let me catch back up. After a few minutes he did it again. I tried to keep up but to no avail. I am not sure if it was an auto or 7 spd, but it made no difference. Now mind you I have a 6spd premium GT with the 20" wheels and 3:55 gears, so no PP. I thought it was hilarious because when I pulled up next to him it was an older guy and he was waving his finger at me like "Not today, son!" I just cracked up. Below is a pic I took before he took off the first time.

Let's see the average C7 cost $65k MSRP ... The GT 6speed pp runs $40k MSRP. There is no comparison son. Get you some mods.
Have you heard about the new Z06 turd. The thing runs hot @ track temps above 76 degrees after 2 laps and pulls timing. Some guys after 5 laps have experienced limp home mode. There are a lot of pissed off owners about this fiasco. Just wait until summer and read the Vette forums.

I've been waiting to play with a vette. I also would like to play with a 2000ish Porsche 911 too. You could have been in third at that speed with 3.55 too just a polite FYI.

Dump the floor mats and manual bro!!!!! Whats wrong with you?

LOL. A stock PP GT is going to lose to a C7. Those trap at 116-117, the GTPP traps at 112-114. It wont get DESTROYED, but it will lose. The gap will be worse if the Vette is an automatic!

There is nothing wrong with losing to a C7. It's a different kind of car. I think a GT PP (Shorter gears) with tune/intake/exhaust will hang in there in a straight line. Throw a race track in and the Mustang will likely lose in all variants. I doubt the GT350 will hang in there but lets see. Vette's are some of the fastest track cars you can buy. Period.

Still dont want one!

The C7 Vette is 450 HP and 400+ lbs lighter, so stock-to-stock, it will probably walk away every time if the driver is any good. Just the way it is.

I would love to have a Stingray. Faster than Mustang body style is nicer, and better MPG. Just too much $$$$$

I actually think the C7 is way too busy IMO. The Mustang has much better lines and pleasing to the eyes. I had a C7 and sold it cause I could not warm up to the looks.
Look how high the rear end is compared to a 67 Vette
I sold it back in jan 2014 while it was still hot and did not get burned to bad. Had I sold it today I'd lost $10K

I own a 1977 Corvette and it seems like so many corvettes since then just got worse in their looks. The body on the 1977 corvette is what I love, it's so different. While given the time and money I'd make some changes, I wouldn't trade it for a newer corvette. The new ones kind of remind me of cameros with the back. Just not a fan, but at least the new corvette looks a lot better than some of the other "modern" styling of corvettes.

Which is one reason I like the new mustang too, the body looks so much better. I feel as if classics had all the style, then people got bored of style, wanted a box style, then went back to actually making cars with style again.

I really like the C7 and you can't beat it for the price. They did a lot for what they are asking for it.

Why didn't you toggle switch to your machine guns and use them on him? ;)

^^^^
This -- very true -- stock for stock, the Vette is a whole other animal -- it's easily good for 12 seconds, versus the mustangs high 12's to low 13's. The Z06 -- whatever the case about heat soak hot lapping it -- is sub 11's. Just sayin' And I'm still in for a Mustang.
