I think a good PDR guy could fix the door so that there is very little filler.

2500 sounds cheap.

My son's is in the shop now after getting clipped and damage appear to be just the bumper and hood. After today's supplemental this is $10,240 in damage. These cars seem crazy expensive to repair.

Does the dent in the door look repairable without replacing the door skin? The guy from Progressive just called and said that they were going to replace the fender, repair the door, buff the rim, and paint the rocker panel. Total as of right now is around $2500.
With regards to the door skin:

It depends on the shop and how skilled their guys are OR a PDR guy who can get the skin back to almost normal. What will happen is they will massage the skin from the back side (removing door panel) and get the material as back to normal and as flat as possible, then skim coat it to level any low areas, prep/prime/paint.

Now that’s what a VERY GOOD shop can do - it keeps the original skin on the door, keeps costs down and alleviates any further problems with having to R&R door skin off the door shell and possible alignment/sealing problems.

They *could* probably do it even cheaper if they sourced a whole driver door from a scrap yard and just prepped/painted it to match your car...

If you were to google PDR images, some of the before and the after pics are really amazing for what some PDR guys and body shops can do these days with metal damage.

I have the blackvue DR900s. It comes with a kit to hard wire it. The power magic pro comes with it and will monitor your battery so it won't drain your battery to low. Will automatically shut off the camera. I did a lot of research before I bought mine. If your in an accident or get hit in a parking lot, it will lock that file so it doesn't get over written. Not to mention, if you have a hotspot for internet in your car, you can actually track your car, and see where its going, even speak to the person in your car LOL.
Is the kit you have?

Which dash cams do you all recommend? Can they be hardwired?

I have a Blueskysea B1W. It was only $55.

I didn’t really buy it because it was cheap but that helps .. lol. I bought it because it’s really small and black and you can’t really see it in my car. It also has a app that you can download files to your smart phone really easy. These 2 features where important to me. I would of spent more if needed. I hard wired it to a fuse. I forget wich fuse tho ? It took about 5 minutes to install it. It goes on and off when the car goes on and off.

Which dash cams do you all recommend?
Depends, what do you want it to do? Most all dash cams will do a decent job of recording video while driving, even cheap ones. It's the other features that vary - parking mode, cloud, Wifi, SD card capacity, etc. Parking mode is one feature that varies widely from brand to brand in capabilities.

Can they be hardwired?
Yes, that is the preferred way. I installed and hard wired a Thinkware dash cam in my GT. No experience and I found it relatively easy, definitely a DIY job.

I have a Blackvue 2 channel dash cam.

Basically their models are very similar. The differences are if you want a rear camera, GPS (which not only gives you speed but also location that is mapped out on google maps), better picture quality, better night time views, and if you want to be able to download the footage wireless to your phone or have to take out the micro SD card.

I have mine installed with the optional power control unit (forgot what exactly they called it) but basically you can set it to run while your car is off such as in a parking spot until either your voltage drops to a specified amount or on a timer. You can also have it set to turn on if your car is bumped in the parking lot too.

I have been fortunate enough to not need the footage for an accident but have come close a few times and it would have saved me from being at fault.
