Remember California moved to Texas a year ago.
Yep, and those same people that moved to Texas to get away from California will start systematically dismantling Texas and turn it into California in the name of progress.

Long story short - Got cut off, went off into the grass, went into a drive way, hit a curb going around 60, kept going till i stopped. The guy that cut me off just kept driving  Insurance quoted $8,767.08 to fix. Good thing my deductible is only $500.

Sorry man. There is really no honor anymore. Very glad that you were not hurt, that could have been much worse than just a damaged car. Since you are already dealing with a hit in insurance, might want to look into Diminished Value. Best of luck getting the steering and brakes straightened out!

You can't fix stupid.

People have poor impulse control and most have never been in a major accident. So driving is the only control they have in their lives and they use it to vent emotional frustration on others.

Really the best course of action is to employ a little defensive driving. When you see people driving a certain way give them room, pick a different lane, look for outs. You can almost see this type of thing coming, and although it's not what you want to do changing your driving just a bit to anticipate this type of foolishness is the best way to stay out of situations. Retaliating is just lowering yourself to their dumbness.
This times 1000. Almost all of the situations that I have gotten into that have been close calls I could have avoided by being more aware and proactive. Always try to learn from them. You cannot control what others do around you, but you can control what you do. People drive like idiots, are unaware of what is around them, are paying attention to the radio or their phones, or are just plain jerks. Most of the time you can keep yourself safe by expecting the unexpected, anticipating someone doing something stupid or ignorant, don't camp in people's blind spots, and for god's sake, always know your escape routes. Doing these things has kept me out of countless wrecks. I am certainly not perfect at it, but having this in your mind will help you most of the time.

In my opinion it is just like an animal in the road, you stay in your lane and keep your course because otherwise it is completely your fault as your response resulted in the accident. If someone cuts you off and you can't brake safely, seems like you were going too fast for the conditions.

Make sure you double check everything under the car before you sign off on everything to take the car back, wouldn't want to to find future issues with your mods because the insurance/shop took shortcuts!
You're absolutely right, you should run the dog over or take the hit, but human reflexes take over 95% of the time and you try avoidance which leaves you the one with the fucked up car.

drive defensively and you can avoid a lot of bad situations

Is it just the bumper or are body panels involved? That estimate sounds really high. Glad you’re OK though.
They replaced the front and rear bumper, fixed and repainted the driver side fender, 3 new performance pack rims, 2 new tires, new radiator, a whole bunch of suspension parts.

i don't think i can do that because the guy who cut me off kept driving. So I filed the claim with my own insurance.
According to that website,
"Also, if the other party in Texas does not have auto insurance and you carry uninsured/ underinsured motorist coverage you may be able to claim diminished value under your policy"

My poll about the mustang6g Hall Of Fame:

"Took my Grandson back to my daughter and as I was coming home some guy in a full size
Chevy Tahoe thought he was going to be Mr. Hot Rod and outrun me.
Came down his driveway, shot right out in front of me and floored that sucker.
I just jammed the gas pedal to the floor in the Mustang and blew him away. We were probably
doing 120+ when I cut back in front of him.

"I've tried to avoid this situation with this car.
When I had the Camaro, it was worse.

"But, lets get real. If your going to race a Mustang GT, get something with some horsepower............."

This person deserves to be enshrined because:

1. His epic, couragous actions reflect credit upon himself, grandfathers, and the Mustang community.

2. He has survived to grandfather age in spite of thoughtless, dangerous activities.

3. He bragged about his reckless, irresponsible behavior in a place where his family, law enforcement agencies, and his insurance company can find it.

4. This person read the Tahoe driver's mind, learning that the other driver thought he was going to outrun him.

5. He contributed to the evolution of the English language by failing to distinguish between "your" and "you're".

What happens if he breaks in and steals your dash cam?
Wouldn't be a problem at all if you got an OWL dash cam, as the company sends you another one for free if it gets stolen.

Well, you could get something like a BlackVue. Remote alarm notification, live viewing. Saves event video to the cloud. There's another one that gives you live audio to the dashcam so you can tell the scumbag that the cops have been called.

My recommendation: make sure you get video both front and rear. You can even do that real cheap by using separate cams for each direction (microSD cards are dirt cheap now). NewEgg has specials every so often that are terrific.

Get a good dashcam or 2, drive like everyone out there is either a clueless no-talent, or is an aggressive scumbag (you will likely be 99% correct). Then you'll be exposed to fewer incidents that will invoke rage. And if they do draw your ire, your video evidence of their stupidity should soothe your ire, making you less tempted to do something even more stupid than they did. And should you be unlucky enough to get in an accident, you'll have video evidence to lessen the probability of getting screwed by insurance scum or some cop that had an argument with their spouse before leaving for work, and then had their donut shop coffee spill on them because the server didn't put the lid on correctly.
Just think how good it would feel to get the license plate of some idiot that causes your wreck, give it to the cops to nail them for leaving the scene, and testify at their case so they get crucified by the cops and the insurance companies.:thumbsup:

Owl has all that, live view, 2 way communication, instant upload to cloud during break in and all motion alerts.

I had a 2012 Brembo GT, and it was hit 8 times.

That's right, 8 times. Not dents and dings, but damage like yours and worse, requiring weeks at the body shop. 6 times in my apartment parking lot, once at a client's home, once while I was sitting at a stop light.

I have learned to be very careful about where I park. I wouldn't suggest parking on the street if possible.

That sucks but at least you're ok. Hopefully it's a total loss and you can get a new one? Maybe?... I get cut off all the time here in Los Angeles. Sometimes I lose my patience and sometimes I just practice defensive driving a lot of the time because people can't drive for shit. I also have a dash cam incase anything happens and I feel so much better knowing it's there recording everything, even my own stupidity haha.

Yikes, hopefully your rate does not go up. I also just read the whole thread. The first accident seemed like fun (lol). I do think you made a mistake by accepting to taking a car that had 15k in repairs. I would have fought them on that. The fact that it is a 2015 with most likely a bunch of miles on it, the 15k should have been 50% or more of the value. Does not make sense the insurance company would have wanted to repair it.
