Hi,

Has anyone got any jacking rails off the car ?

If you have and you are happy to take some dimensions, please could you let me know ?

I'm looking for the basic dimensions (length and holes centers) as I am considering making my own, I can send you a sketch that you would just need to put some dimensions on - is anyone able to help ?

Thanks and best regards,

@cosmic charlie - I agree, if I could get prices in $’s and not in £’s ... lol

Anyhow, I want to make some in stainless - maintenance free for our wonderful damp environment over here :like:

If no one steps up in a week, I'll pull one of mine off and throw a tape measure on it and take pics for you. Want metric or standard? Mine are full length steeda rails.

Not for nothing had to take a look at BMR, was curious.

Fail to see the advantage of the rail. Lets get to the basics here. Other than the reinforced bolt pad, do not see an advantage. Steeda accomplishes the same having boxed the ends

Crushing / distorting the square tubing used by both companies would take a lot of work.

Just saying, buyers choice, both will serve an owner well as advertised .

oh the hacking rails just nice to have. I toss Jack anywhere under it without having to put on the Jack points. Can lift whole side using one Jack if you wanted I guess. I don’t though as I do basic stuff

I took some time a while ago and did a pretty in-depth evaluation of the jacking rail specs on the S550. I have the exact dimensions of all the holes written down somewhere, I'll have to look them up and get back to you.
I basically made my own also, as I wanted not only for the rails to allow jacking-up of the car, but I also wanted for them to function to allow me to place my jack stands at a wide stance also, (supporting the whole car), as to allow me to do rear-end and exhaust work.
As an addition note: The rails (from vendors) themselves have some slotted holes, so if you are wanting to get Exact measurements (hole centers), the best way is to measure the car itself.

That's an awesome offer :sunglasses: but I would have said no and waited - too much hassle and you would have had to pull them both off anyway ... :like: (different lengths per side).

You do, but there not quite as cheap and the discounts / sales not quite as favourable over this side of the pond ... Anyhow, it's your other kit (stop the hop / H pipe) that's going under the car anyway, just not the rails :like:

That's great info thanks and really appreciated :sunglasses:

Here's what I found out so far, I'm just missing the centres :

Length = 1 x 51” (1295mm) / 1 x 52” (1320mm)
Section = 50mm x 25mm
Wall thickness = Old Steeda = 11 gauge / 0.120” / 3.0mm
Wall thickness = New Steeda & BMR = 14 gauge / 0.075” / 2.0mm
