ive been married 6 years and been with her for 18 years, and i have yet to ask for permission for a purchase.

it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission....
I'm sure she feels dejected and ignored by your actions, and probably raises a ruckus during the 'forgiveness' portion just so her opinion is actually heard. You'd do much better talking to her reasonably, don't you think?

It seems the thread is veering off course....

In my situation, this car will be a toy and will likely only see ~2000 miles per year on sunny days during the summer months. It will sit in my shop from November until May (give or take) to wait out winter, and will never be used for a daily driver. It'll probably never even get driven in the rain, if my past Mustangs of the last decade are any indication.

So "getting permission" is a little different in this scenario versus buying one of these cars that's driven daily. As said, you talk about things like this regardless and both have to agree....
If this is true - why not buy slightly used and let someone else take the 7-10k depreciation hit? I can understand new for a new-DD-im-going-to-drive-150k-miles, but with your less-than-average mileage, you'll have low miles regardless of how you buy.

As an example, I just found a '14 GTTP Prem with good options LISTED at 26k with 5k miles. Assuming you could get it for 24, that's 12+ off sticker, and still well within warranty for any abuse-miles that might've been. Not saying you could do this good on the new bodystyle, but you could easilly save 5-8k once the '16s come out. Worth the hassle? You seem to be focused on getting a good deal over getting exaaaaaaaactly what you want, but obviously that's up to you.

The easiest way to get a better-than-most-price at the moment, on an ordered car, seems X-plan + 750 coupon + 500 incentive. Any additional incentives upon delivery should be added with a reasonable dealer as it's just paperwork for them. You could easily do invoice minus incentives on an in-stock car on the last day of the month if you're ready to go that day. Could you barter for another 250-500 off? Sure, but it's diminishing returns at that point, and any reasonable dealer could do the above, get you out at two hours, and nobody would be ripped off - both would move on with their day.

I didn't ask permission per se, but I definitely wanted to include her in the decision. She picked out her car (an Explorer Limited) and I supported her in that. She supported me in the decision with this car. While technically I didn't need to ask for permission I made sure she was involved and agreed.

Keyser hit it on the head. Why add any extra stress to a marriage? Hopefully you married her (and stuck around) because you loved her and valued her opinion.

My previous five Mustangs have been used, low-mile examples, but that doesn't mean they didn't have their quirks courtesy of the previous owner(s). I'm picky when it comes to my toys. Time to finally order and buy EXACTLY what I want and keep it.

And get the best possible deal on it.

Jesus, dude, that's the most sexist thing I've heard in a long time... tell that to my sister who just installed a new transmission on her car by herself and sourced and installed a new carburetor for it six months ago.
I actually have to agree with Asharus here, for the VAST MAJORITY of women anyway. Salesmen in a technical field (TV/Home Theater, Cars, whatever) see a woman and a little light goes on in their head. As a former salesman I can vouch for this and 3.5/5 times you can talk them into more than the average customer. Whether you do or not is a moral quandary - personally I never gave one a bad deal, but they may have left with some above-average speakers that were never returned. Your exception proves the rule, unless you're arguing your sister is typical. She isn't.

Tama's simply working under the assumption thatyour average woman customer doesn't run the numbers quite as much as your average man customer, and that their automotive proficiency, on average, is probably lower. I would argue that salesmen work under this assumption, whether or not you and I personally believe it to be true. Therefore a woman is at a disadvantage when she hits the dealership's doors, and we aren't wrong in worrying about that scenario.

Well, if you're ordering, I'd say you could get invoice - incentives on the order, and wait until the incentives are at their zenith right as the factory order window closes. You will have to find a dealer with allocation who is willing to do all that for not-much-money. X-plan minus incentives should be easier, with most reasonable dealers open to it.

2015 Mustang GT - Track Package
Hey gang… new here!

I just ordered yesterday. I ordered a 2015 Black with Red Trim Recaro seats in the track package, etc.

The sticker is $44,785. The invoice is $41857.

I didn't know about joining MCA and getting the X Plan until just now in finding this forum and thread. Thank you all for posting this here!

I'm about to call the dealer I ordered from and let them know that I'm doing this. If they won't accept the X-Plan, I'll order elsewhere.

Any thoughts there? Any chance they say "no" to this??

Technically you have to let them know it is X-Plan before ordering. Your dealer may tell you they can't do it on this order and would have to reorder as an x-plan. Other dealers might just say OK, no biggie. Some dealers flat out refuse to honor X-Plan. Your mileage may vary but I would advise to call your local dealers and ask if they accept x-plan orders. Find one or two that say yes AND THEN call your dealer you have already ordered from. If they say no, they won't deal with x-plan, mention the dealers that said they will. They will either cave or let you walk.

Where can I find information on these three things? And how do you find out what invoice price is over the MSRP?

If they say no, find another dealer. There are plenty willing to take your order.

There is a sticky thread on X-Plan and search for Incentives (or Rebates) to find the thread on current incentives and rebates. Lots of good info already posted.

I hear ya… good advice. I ordered less than 24 hours ago, so there's likely not anything that's really happened. Technically, I could just re-order from them or they could convert this.

Yes, if they don't take X-plan, why bother? I'll just go elsewhere or leverage them into accepting it like you said. Thanks!!!
