After all the trouble I went through to get it, I'm thinking about getting rid of the V6. I love so many things about it, but am getting weary of the 6-speed.

Found this about 50 miles from my house. It's pretty much set up the way I'd want it with the wheels and leather. Just wondering about the wisdom of buying a used car in this market, although the price doesn't seem too far out of line for the mileage and equipment.

Drove my significant other's convertible last night. That thing will run circles around the V6, and the transmission behaves much better than the one I had in my '18 coupe.

I think I may go drive it to see how it behaves.

I own both... My V6 is an automatic premium convertible. Nice to look at, nice to drive (as long as you're not in a hurry), mileage is OK.

My 2018 ecoboost coupe with 10 speed automatic is a beast! And a blast to drive! Gets great mileage!

However, when buying a used car.... It's only as good as the warranty, be careful!

I actually need to find out of my V6 has any warranty on it. I'm the second owner, 37,000 miles on it. Not sure if Ford honors the powertrain warranty for 2nd owners. If not...then my ass is currently out in the wind.

The Ecoboost I was looking at is a Ford Gold certified car. 12/12 7/100

Ford will honor your power train warranty, doesn’t matter if you are the 8th owner. Just have to be within the allotted miles and or years

Good to know...thanks!! I guess I'm out in the wind anyway if I put a tune on it, depending on what fails.

I doubt anything will fail on that V6 even with a tune. You're good.

I have an 18 EB MT and I plan to keep it a while, because that's what I wanted. Never drove the AT. I recently acquired an 18 F-150 and I really like that transmission! It does have me wondering what it would be like in the Mustang, but I'm sure I'll just stick with wondering.

My rub with any automatic is that they can be slow to respond at times. Some people call really good automatics "practically telepathic", as in they seem to know what the driver wants before he wants it, but that's not been my experience. They tend to upshift at just about the same time I jab the go-pedal to scoot around someone, so there's a pause while it figures out what to do with that information. They frustrate me at times. I sold my Eco A10 coupe because the transmission was never right in that car. I got some weird behavior before the wrench light appeared around 1,000 miles, and despite all the re-flashing and fluid change, it was never right again. Very indecisive on the highway when you have to slow, then re-accelerate, and those multiple hard downshifts if you brake hard for an unexpected yellow light really got on my nerves. The convertible in my garage does none of this weird stuff, but it does do the annoying hard downshifts, which, IMO, should only happen in "S", and it's very slow and lazy when shifting between Park, Reverse, and Drive. I get that they're going for smooth transitions in the programming, but they overshot the mark. Trying to execute a quick 3-point u-turn on a busy road will make your hair turn gray. But one thing this transmission does better than most is get the hell out of Dodge. Put it in S and nail the right pedal, and it's crisp, firm upshifts up to whatever speed you were aiming for. It is happiest when you're in a hurry. It seems a little miserable lugging around town.

I prefer manuals because you don't have to tolerate any of these shenanigans during your drive, but they also come with drawbacks. A tired calf muscle comes to mind. But If there's a screw-up, you have nobody or nothing to blame but yourself. :-)

Doesn't seem like you struggle much between the choice of having total control over the transmission, or having the faster transmission. It's too bad you can't have it all, right? :-)

I would have to agree with the others. I've had the Ecoboost for 4 1/2 years and while it was a peppy car, if I was you I'd keep the V6. Maybe I'm biased but I prefer NA motor vs. FI, especially in this scenario where the 2.3L pushes 310 while the 3.7L pushes 300 (detuned, mine you) so if you want more power, you can easily get it tuned.
You owe me a 10 second car.

She's pretty much done, with the exception of the OEM fog lights I want to install. With the Unleashed tune, it's more like the car it should have been from the factory. I'm particularly happy with the grille. Glad I didn't trade her in.
