I live down in Buckhead and I am always down for a run in the mountains! If we can get a group to go up I will definitely join. I have been trying to get more involved in the GA community but have never heard of much going on since I am not a fan of social media.

It's actually a good time to do a ride. The people that look for the fall colors are gone, and the weather isn't good for the bikers and bicycles. You have to watch for deer since it's a lot of Federal Land with no hunting.

They had a New Year's Day run, but I skipped it due to the rain and drizzle.

I like to go up Hwy 400 to Dahlonega then up Hwy 60 to Woody's Gap and toward Suches. There is a County RD there that cuts over to Blood Mtn.

I and three of my best friends just did the route in the above picture yesterday. We went in December as well. Two of us are from Marietta, one from Ellijay and the other from Clarksville. I'm the only Mustang, the others have a C5, Cayman, and 350Z. One guy that went in December has a late model Miata with a boosted Focus 2.4 that dynoed 360HP at the wheels.

We go during the week to avoid traffic and meet in Dahlonega at Spirits Tavern for lunch at about 11:30. Depending on which route we take figure 1.5 - 2.5 hours in the mountains. We plan on going at least once a month, weather and previous commitments permitting. If anyone on here is interested on going drop me a PM and I'll let you know the next time we plan a drive. BTW, this is not leisurely driving, yet we are not crazy either.

There are two more that live around me that would love to go more often, but they're working stiffs and getting off during the week is tough.

I sent out some emails with no drivers. They had the usual excuses (mostly their wife said, no).

Here are some pictures of the last winter cruise which happened with Porsche guys (my grey 911 is in the back on the first picture and the second picture is a Cayman 918 of the same Agate Grey color).

The road shown on the second picture is not on the map but goes west before Helen and up to Hwy 180 and Brastown Bald Mtn.

Let me know the next time you plan to go, and I'll do the same. As long as the weather is good, and it's during the week, the rest will want to go as well.
