What all is needed to completely swap the entire motor from a gen 3 5.0 onto a 2017? My motor was hydro locked and insurance gave me the option of a 2021 motor but just want to see if it would even work.

Being a DI and Port Injection hybrid, I know the fuel system is different. You'd probably need the entire control pack for a Gen 3 engine as well. Definitely not a direct drop in replacement, so I doubt your insurance looked into the fact that there is a difference between gen 2 and 3.

There's a lot of differences, it's really not worth it. It's one thing to use a gen 3 shortblock on a fresh build, but the entire engine? Nah.

Will they offer you $$ instead? Buy another stock gen 2 and boost it.

Used the gen3 shortblock with the gen2 heads

Not sure if you ever saw this thread I had posted a little while ago, but it discusses the rebuilding of a Coyote and parts upgrade variances between years.
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/coyote-generations-tech-article.155301/

I also created this Coyote link that contains valuable information for rebuilding based on Generation:

Also be sure to check out the sticky at the very top of this forum with the Technical Reference info for the Coyote from 2015-current; those may help you too.

I’m not really sure what you are trying to say with this?
