I have 21 GT making north of 800rwhp, and looking to make just north of 1000rwhp soon.

I'm looking at swapping the MT82 for a T56 or a 6r80.
I'm leaning towards the 6r80 because of how cheap it appears the swap would be.

Has anyone taken a gen3 car from MT82 to 6r80?
I'm wanting to know what your experience was with the process, and would you do something different now that it's done?

It would be possible to do this, but uncommon. You can run the stick PCM to run the engine as its setup now and use a Quick 6 to run the 6r80. I'm sure some tuning nuances will come up that will need to be addressed.

That sounds like a PITA lol. But I'll look into it, thanks for the info.

There have been a few threads about this. Its too much work to make the switch. If its Manual car stick with Manual. Not saying its not possible but there is lots of wiring, modules, etc that you must swap over I have heard. If you want Auto you are better off selling and getting an auto but thats probably something you are not interested in at this point.

From a MT82 you will enjoy the Tremec no doubt and I see it as the best option. Oh and Manuel will thank you.

Well these are some of the things that need to be replaced on a Gen 2. Now for the Gen 3 not sure what additional things would be needed.

If he is using a stand alone trans computer most of that stuff does not need to be changed.

Local guy uses a Quick 6 in his turbo/coyote/6r80 fox with great success. I've heard alot of horror stories about the mt82. It is what it is.

Just so you know, a Stock 6R80 won't hold up to 1000rwhp for long. A built 6R80 is not cheap.

Few folks out there are selling rollerized OEM planetary units for about 500. The Bluestreak unit is 1500. That's 1k saved and would pay for clutches and intermediate shaft. That's all I ever did on my 6r and made plenty of passes. 8.35 at 165 was best on 6r if I recall correctly.
