Well my car got totaled and i got a settlement that can put me in a 50-55k ish car. I was looking at the new 2024 Gt performance package s650s but then i realized i can get a used gen 1 voodoo gt350 2016-18 for around the same price as a s650 brand new. However reading i heard the gen 1s are fairly unreliable? the ones i’m looking at range from 20-50k miles. this is gonna be my new daily and i don’t want to be fixing it. I already have a classic mustang that’s been a money pit to get fixed. Im hoping this new purchase would last me 10-20 years and not worry about reliability or issues… however the gt350 is intriguing since 1) it’s a gt350 2) the value won’t depreciate over the next several years

Eh… if it’s not a 350R it’s not the truth… and really a 19-20R

pricing reflects that.

IMHO (no offense here) a voodoo isn’t for you. Keep in mind, I daily my 350R from coast to coast, knocking on the door of 70k miles and will do it again when this one gets long in the tooth.

BUT, you said this…

this is gonna be my new daily and i don’t want to be fixing it.
…and that’s just not possible, get the S650 for those parameters šŸ˜‰

This. There’s so many threads with this same first type of post it’s a rabbit hole. There’s nothing wrong with a nice Gt and a warranty. Great cars.

A lightly used 21-23 Mach 1 is a solid option, too, especially if you want the Tremec.
end thread, basically. plus you don't have to spend 25k if you blow up the engine. 😰

That's what'd I'd do if you can find one that seems like it wasn't owned by a moron.
I think Mach 1 owners are typically different than the general Mustang owner. People don't buy a Mach to 'show off'. Unfortunately, the 350 gets the youtube kids that don't know shit about cars.

I'd feel safer buying a Mach than a unknown owned gt350.

Just my opinion.

I'd also rather own a Mach than any 650 platform car.

You're part of the internet myth problem.

I generally just read and enjoy the information passed on in these threads but I’m finally getting fed up with lack of respect for all mustang owners. If you drive an ecoboost, the V8 crowd hate comes out, if you chose a cybor orange, the grabber blue people snicker. Now , the real mustang to buy is the Mach 1. We all own these cars for one reason. We love Mustangs. Don’t listen to these phonies and posers, they buy their cars to impress each other and make up for their insecurities. Buy what you can afford, they are all fun and meet the spirit the car was designed for. Choose the color that appeals to you. If you must have ultimate bragging rights, sell your home and get in line for GTD. Better yet, get the Porsche 911.

WTF? I recommended the Mach 1 because I honestly thought it would be a better option for what the OP was looking for. Less concern with reliability than the GT350 and a better manual transmission than an S650 GT. It had nothing to do with hating or snickering at any other type of Mustang.

For what it's worth, I don't think the GT350 was designed as a daily even though some certainly use it for that, unless you are a long distance commuter on roads that let you stretch it out. Consumables such as oil changes and tires run higher, you constantly have to pay attention to ground clearance and front parking distance, getting in and out depending on your body build can be a nuisance, and if you need to use back seats they're tight. And as a daily I don't think you would really notice any driving advantage over a Mach 1 or GT pp2.
That being said, if you really want to own one, go ahead. As you state, you can always turn around and sell it if it doesn't fit your needs with little if any loss. Risk of a Gen 1 engine is small, but if you can't find one with the engine replaced with a Gen 2, I would personally recommend a compression and leak down test on any Gen 1 before purchase as cheap insurance against the 30K bill to replace or consider extended warranty (probably only worth the peace of mind).

I hate on other Mustangs because i'm not a Mustang guy. Although, outside of the gt500, i do sort of like the Mach1.

And unless you get a warranty for your race car, (gt350) definitely have it inspected. Even if you get a warranty. Too many kids looking for clout buying these cars, tearing them up and then selling them to buy the next thing for their IG videos.

I agree on the Gen1. The issue came from people not understanding what they bought. 1 qt per 500 miles (with spirited driving) and all of it being sent back to the engine after it blows by. The froth that the oil makes would make a stout beer drinker blush.

Oil separators should have came standard but because of smog laws....
