What are those 19 issues to share? Do tell. I do a great deal of reading on more than 1 forums as well as Facebook groups. I have heard of isolated issues but have not heard that the 19 MY has issues, other than pre 19 owners that don't state their sources. Never understood....an attempt to keep perceptions the old ones are just as good? In any case, interested
Shifter recall. Wingless R's showing up ay dealerships without the rear seat delete panel installed as well. Personally witnessed. 2019 seems to have taken a hit on QC.

If some of the "failures" are a matter of time and use, would it not be a reasonable assumption that for each model year for a product or an assembly, there'd be more failures in the original year with less and less in each subsequent year?

If the same generator (with no changes) is sold for 4 years, would it shock anyone that there's more failures reported for year 1 generators (which have more hours on them) than years 2, 3 or 4?

Furthermore, would it shock anyone to learn that Ford moved the goal posts and what was considered an "excessive oil consumption" early on is now perfectly acceptable in many cases?

I find these, gen 1 vs gen 2 arguments to be very self serving. It's generally divided into guys who own a gen 1 vs guys who like buyer's confirmation to their ego and own a gen 2.

I'd prefer a gen 2 (even though I own a gen 1) but not for the reasons generally debated here. It has nothing to do with reliability for me and everything to do with A) I wish I had the support with the factory locations for hood pins and B) I would have preferred the improved block as a starting point for a build. Outside of that, much of the "improvements" for the gen 2 are nothing more than production efficiencies (with other cars like the 500). But if it helps you sleep better at night thinking your car is somehow safer or less prone to failure.....rest well my friends. If Ford knows what's plaguing these cars, they ain't telling and I don't think a 2020 model with 10 miles on it is any more or less of a risk than a 2016 with 10 miles on it (at the time).

Ok, so 2 with exactly the same things missing...one of which was at the dealer for a year.

Im just saying that these one-offs (which get resolved with zero impact) are hardly enough to condemn an entire model year as having more QC defects than any other year. I'm sure there were plenty of 18s delivered with QC issues, too. This data is not enough to even say that 19 had more or less than 18.

Ok. Point taken and I'm not saying that every 19 has an issue. But I do believe there was a general QC concern starting in 19. Now it's your turn to provide any similar proof.

Nope! :) My argument is that nothing that we have staring us in the faces says that one year was more prone to QC issues than the other ;)

2015 prod numbers were very low to begin with. Not sure about the 16's but seems like a solid model year. 17 seems to be the most suspect year in my opinion. The 18's got new ring and piston packs at some point during the model year assembly process. Personally, I think the 18's have held up the best so far given the quantity produced. Tho if looking for a used one, I'd go with an 18 manufactured after the new year. Early manufactured 18's saw some 17-esque issues. 19's had/have QC issues right out of the gate. Verdict still out on 2020 really. Anyway it's year 6 of 350 production. Doesn't seem Ford is really all that worried.
Here ya go.

I knew the shifter recall would be coming, since it's all I could think of. I had mine fixed while I waited. I'd take that over some of the other stories of heard of other model years, but that's just me
