Well, if you are breaking in the engine, then RPM is what you want. I can't recall what the manual says, but I believe it is <5,000 rpm for the first 1,000 milesHi all - Curious what real world speed specs are for the Bullitt's gearing. For example:
1st 0-40mph
2nd 40-80mph ....... and so forth.
I'm still breaking mine in so haven't redlined it yet through each gear.
My 19 bullitt has about 4000 mi on it. 1st ..49....2nd....73....3rd.....around 110. Really fun to hammer down at 80 in 3rd gear. Just takes off. The motor loves the revs. An American v8 that wants to pulls hard to 7400? Going to get a ticket. 4th....where?Hi all - Curious what real world speed specs are for the Bullitt's gearing. For example:

Did hwy 36 here in ca. 140 mi and almost 2000 corners. An amazing road. They didnt grade or flatten the conture. A favorate for sport bikes...miatas...sports cars.....bullitts. used 3rd gear mostly. It is a huge gear. Could have used 2nd more but didnt really need to. Some times 4th to cruise. With a 7500 rpm redline, a 163 mph speed limiter for Bullitt, 154 mph speed limiter for GT, to nearest mph / nearest 50 rpm
1st: 51 mph
2nd: 79 mph
3rd: 117 mph
4th: 163 mph (@7400 rpm) for Bullitt, 154 (@ 7000 rpm) for GT
5th: 163 mph (@ 6000 rpm) for Bullitt, 154 (@ 5650 rpm) for GT
6th: 163 mph (@ 4600 rpm) for Bullitt, 154 (@ 4300 rpm) for GT. May struggle hold those speeds in 6th.
Effectively, the car's an automatic. Leave it in 2nd above 8 mph and you drive it at or above the speed limit just about everywhere in the country outside of Texas.
This video let the german Bullitt drivers to try out V/max of their cars, becaus 260 on the speedometer was excactly the limited top speed of the GT. There were lots of complaints the Bullitt not reaching the promised 263 km/h. Newer versions of the ecu by Ford changed this. Bullitts now reach top sppeed as promised (273 on speedometer). This video is in km/h but you can covert to mph by multiplying by .621371.
Source of this? I'm not aware of a ECU update here in Europe to increase the limiter. Which firmware version is it?This video let the german Bullitt drivers to try out V/max of their cars, becaus 260 on the speedometer was excactly the limited top speed of the GT. That is the reason of why many dyno graphs that calls out an increased power due to ECU "tuning" are nothing more than the speed governor removed/increased, since the max power/torque is right above the limiter in 4th gear.that's why dyno graphs cut off sooner than the engine rev limit of 7,500 rpm.
The update number is G195818.4-1.0 You can read a lot of this topic in the german Mustang Forum.Source of this? I'm not aware of a ECU update here in Europe to increase the limiter. Which firmware version is it?
Thanks! Gonna check mine... is it supposed to be delivered to EU or it is just a German thing? And why they hell they didn't told every customer instead of waiting for them to "ask"? Grrrrrr. The update number is G195818.4-1.0 You can read a lot of this topic in the german Mustang Forum.
