Piston rings take about 1000 miles to break in.
Honestly, Toyota engines come with full synthetic oil from the factory.
Actually with the precise machine these days and the moly faced rings being used the rings seat with in minutes of starting the engine for the first time.

New Corvettes as far back as the 1990's (mine was a '98) come from the factory with full synthetic Mobil 1.

Idiots at Stealership service departments never cease to amaze with all of the non accurate facts they spew! I had one clown try to tell me that full synthetic oil is heavier than synthetic blend and conventional oil, I nearly laughed until I cried at that one. Another asshat cashier at the express lube at the Stealership refused to change my oil at 1000 miles because of the special "Break in" oil from the factory and changing it would cause more harm than good. I asked him if he lacked general automotive knowledge and that's why he was a low level cashier. When the Stealership service clown did the oil change on my 15 EcoBoost (Ford's problem now) he put in 1 quart less than Ford requires and he put in 5w 20 when it's supposed to be 5w 30, needless to say he had to change it. I know I'm a woman but come on, that's just inexcusable!

I always get the factory garbage out of my cars at 1k and only run full synthetic.

Exactly why the dealer doesn't touch my car. I maintain my own cars. I've been running Amsoil 5w20 since 1000 miles.

I only went to the Stealership because Ford gave me a free maintenance contract as a consolation prize for my Lemon EcoBoost and it was going back to Ford anyway so I didn't care. If I wasn't driving round trip FL to NY I probably wouldn't have bothered.

Unfortunately, I don't have a garage and condo rules don't permit doing any mechanical maintenance or washing on site. For this reason I can't do it myself.

The Stealership will not be touching my GT unless it's a recall or warranty issue. I have two great shops that I know and trust with my cars and they will be the only ones touching it, unless I can convince my cousin to let me use his jack stands and driveway, in which case he would probably do it for me [emoji12].

That sucks! Toyota gave me free oil changes. I took it to them and they claimed that they change the oil at the 7500 service. I checked the drain bolt and oil filter, there was still mud on them. I could tell that they didn't actually change anything. That was the last time I took a vehicle to the stealership for service.

Just got off the phone with Jim at Royal Purple. Had a nice conversation with him about oil, API's and differences between their lines of oil. Very informative and helpful. I was looking to switch to RP 5w20 HPS for my first change I'll do at about 1k miles. I wanted verbal verification from someone there that could explain the difference between there API licensed 5w20 and their HPS 5w20. He confirmed my decision to go with the HPS. Just found a killer deal on a case of it for $87 on eBay. I had him confirm the part number for me and he said that was a great deal at about 7.30 a QT! Cheers to Royal Purple.

I changed over to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-20 at 1500 miles and both my used oil analyses since then have been excellent and I am not burning oil. See the 'First Oil Change' thread under the maintenance forum. I attached my most recent UOA. You can absolutely run full synthetic right away.

The service guy at the Ford dealer just told me they do NOT recommend full synthetic oil until about 15,000 miles. Huh? He said the piston rings would not break in properly with full synthetic oil. This sounds ridiculous to me. Has anyone else heard this? WTF is this guy talking about?
When I bought a brand new Sea Doo jet ski back in 2011 it had synthetic oil new for break in, just had to swap out after 10 hours. Lol
