Thanks for all the info in this thread!!

I just received my CG stuff for my Ruby Red GT..... Blacklight, Pete's 53, and V7

So far I have it clay barred , and 2 coats of blacklight (30 min in between)

Tonight I will put on the Pete's 53.
Is it beneficial to put on 2 coats of Pete's or just one and then finish with the V7??

Thanks Again!!

1 coat of Pete's 53 is enough then V7.

I did a full detail on my Mustang (33k miles) this week. After a wash to strip the wax then clay baring I used the following:

buff - Meguiar's M2 Mirror Glaze Fine-Cut Cleaner
sealant - Chemical Guys WAC_118_16 - JetSeal Sealant and Paint Protectant
wax - Chemical Guys WAC_300 - Pete's '53 Black Pearl Crystal Polymer White Carnuba Paste Wax
detail spray - Chemical Guys WAC808 Hybrid V7
tire & trim detail - Chemical Guys TVD10716 V.R.P. Super Shine Dressing
interior - Chemical Guys SPI993 Nonsense Colorless and Odorless All Surface Cleaner - !!! This stuff is a must have !!!
glass - buff with Meguiar's M2 then use Rain-X

Buff with a Porter Cable 7424 XP then seal ( 2 coats 20 mins apart) & wax by foam pads.

It was an over cast day when I took the pics but it the sun the Pete's 53 really makes the paint pop.

With the black stripes on the car required extra prep work.

I do one coat of wax then v7 during the first detail, and then I like to do it again a few weeks later. It's really just preference - have fun with it whatever you do 1 layer or 12 layers!

If I'm using something like Zaino, which is a polymer, I do two coats at once because it lasts so long I like both layers in place immediately. I don't do additional applications usually for at least 4 or 5 months on Zaino.

Thanks.

Completed the project tonight in the garage. I must say the Ruby Red looks incredible and even under the fluorescents in the gargage the paint looks flawless and deep.

I can't wait to pull it out in the sun tomorrow...well after the Corsa Cat Back install ;-)

You're such a tease, where's the pics? My wife has been talking about getting a new Ruby Red or Yellow Mustang but she wants an GT auto with PP.

Ford are you listening?

Here's her old 2006 Mustang with true dual exhaust, 4.10 T-Loc, CAI & custom tune.

I agree with Monte the Pete's 53 is good on silver. The key with silver is really a good carnauba as it will provide warmth and color to silver. While something like zaino will make it shiny it won't add the warm color undertones because it's really optically clear while carnauba waxes aren't. Silver is unique in the way warm waxes play with the metal flake to create a sort of glow.

Your car looks awsome sly!

Thoughts on switching out Pete's 53 for Mothers Pure Carnuba Wax?

Don't want to start a brand war, its only that Pete's 53 is quite hard to find in Canada

Not sure how it is in Canada but I ordered from Amazon so might be an option if you really want to try it. But I agree on not being too focused on brand so my guess (not having personally used it) is the Mothers will be good quality. I've used their metal polishes clay and quick detailed and all are top quality. I say give it a shot!

In my experience a good quality wax like Pete's 53 always pops on white. The coloration and warming is the key on white. It's very similar to silver with regard to what looks best on it.

Any particular suggestions for magnetic? It's got a bit of a fleck to it so it doesn't seem to fall into either the grey or black categories.
