Starting to get into Autocross, I have a stock 2015 Mustang GT Base with PP

I do plan on putting on a Borla ATAK catback and that is it for "modifications".

Which class would be better? I heard there are some PAX differences but I am not that familiar with how all of that works.

Also which one do you think would be easier to get 1st place in and which one would be harder and why.

Any insight would be extremely helpful.

If you actually want to learn how to be fast run FS. Then you will be able to compare yourself with similar cars in FS and using PAX with other Street classes. Also attend an EVO or similar autocross school and LEARN.

You will need Bridgestone RE-71R tires to have any chance of being competitive against reasonably fast experienced drivers.

If you turn out to be fast you will beat the CAM guys anyway with your stock car.

First mod should always be the nut behind the wheel. After that tires. :)

FS has a softer PAX than does CAM-C.

I agree with DickR, go with a good auto-x school. I've done EVO and think it's the best. Part 2 and 3 will be this year for me.

catback exhaust is fine in FS, I assume so in CAM.

You want to drive directly against what would be better cars/drivers, I'll go on a limb and say FS. You won't learn anything if you beat people/cars that are not as good as you. If you just want a trophy, just go buy a trophy.

If you have summer tires already, don't buy tires until you are sure you'll do auto-x a bunch. Tires "ain't" cheap. If you get to the point of buying tires, you'll want to look at lighter wheels as well.

Not really, but we have some experienced autocross people around here who can handle about any question that comes up.

Where in Cheeseland do you live? Chances are you will be running with either Milwaukee SCCA, TSSCC or Chicago SCCA depending on where you are at. Plenty of fast FS guys around to hone your skills with. I occasionally hit events with all three groups.

I would say FS......the car was actually pretty fun to race in FS trim.
