It's already been said, but if you use a silicone lubricant (available through your dealer's parts department, though it can be found elsewhere as well) around the edges of the window, it won't freeze.

Mine froze yesterday, but it seemed like they were frozen down in the door rather than the seals. I drove in the sleet then put away in garage for the day. The following morning the windows wouldn't move down, but you could see that they were trying and the door panels were moving.

Have to love Michigan weather....

I had to order my coffee with my door open this morning for like the 4th time this winter. :D It seems to freeze the window into position inside the door. And yes, this car does not like the cold. It takes forever to warm up and run smooth, and when below 30 it turns into a rattle trap. I have rattles in the driver door, head light switch and glove box all going together in a perfect symphony with the road imperfections....

Yesterday my drivers window was frozen to the seal at the top of the door rather than the glass to the seal around to door opening. Tried to lower the glass to see due to the frost build up. Was a no-go, and this is South Carolina!
The window would bump down the 1/2" like it does when you open the door, but it would not go any further until everything was warmed up.

I have a 2012 and my roommate has a 2015. Yesterday, I moved the cars around to get my beater Jeep out since it was snowing. His door windows were frozen upright. My windows opened and closed just fine. FYI, if some don't know, the S197 Windows are frameless just like the S550, but seal differently. The few times my cars window was frozen in the past, all I needed to do was scrape the ice away more. My roommates car - scraped the window completely clean and shook the window carefully to try and break it loose. Nothing helped. I can possibly see de-iced/washer fluid or hot water helping, but that's not a regular option in a parking lot situation. Should be designed better... I hope Ford is paying attention here...

is this the norm in the new car market? I cannot imagine any benefit to having the power window move every time the door is open & closed. Just waiting for the day the window gets stuck in 1/2" down, potentially letting the rain in and then I have to rush over to the the auto repair.

Its on my 2009 S197, the window moves eveytime you open and close the door

Use a spray bottle of deicer fluid around the edges before opening the door.
I am going to go get some deicer now..
I just bought a Garage Kept 2017 Manual PP1 GT with 9,000 miles on her about 3 months ago.. I got up this morning and it was 10 degrees out, The door opened but the window never went down. I started the car and got everything warmed up finally.. But I swear I thought I was going to shatter the glass when I closed the door.. I had a bad feeling this was going to a be an issue... Thanks for the advice..

Ford really made a few big mistakes with the Mustang's..
1. The Beep Beep sound when you get out of the car with the key's. I hate that....
2. the 1/2 inch window that won't move in winter..
3. And this is the worst thing they did is put that sloppy shifter in a $50,000 car???. The shifter linkage to the trans along with the Rubber body mount to hold it in place, is flat out Egregious.. And mine is still new, tight, barely used, but it still doesn't feel to hot..
I am planning on doing a one piece drive shaft this summer, so I am probably going to get the MGW shifter too.. But for now I am going to try the Steeda Solid Body mount, and trans insert to stiffen it up a little, and see how that does for now...

I laugh every time I see someone get righteous about the Mustang being a "$50k" car...
Average new car pricing is $48k. The Mustang is barely above average...

I have been using silicone spray on all the window rubber of my cars that don't have frames for years and not just in winter. It helps the windows travel easier. Especially rear windows that don't get used as much.

I agree, car prices are up across the board. It feels expensive because the bigger price hikes have only come the last couple of years. But you can still get a decently optioned Mustang GT for under $50k brand new. Fully loaded is a different story but that goes for any car.
