Front bumper cover paint doesn’t match

On my phone you can see the difference, but on my laptop you can't. In person, it's noticeable, and when I pointed it out, the one of the salesman was quick to make an excuse about different materials looking different, so I believe he noticed it before I showed up. But like you, I also have another red car and there is no issue. I like red....

I had a similar experience. The bodyshop guy I went to explained to me that the plastic bumpers are painted at a different part of the factory, and often don’t match exactly.

100%. Had a white Mach 1 bought new off the floor. Rear bumper and quarter panel were defintely not an exact match.

My white '22 GT is the same. Definite slight difference between the plastic rear bumper cover and the steel rear fender.

I heard that plastic parts are painted with Water Born paints and a perfect match is normally a fluke??

I've had front bumpers painted several times by local shops using Solvent Based paints and usually they cracked and peeled due to low flexibility of Solvent paints.....supposedly Water Born paints are much more flexible and forgiving on plastic parts??

Hi all. Looking at a 2022 red mach 1. Paint color is slightly different between the fenders and bumper cover. I have a 2015 same color, Race Red, and the parts all look the same. I’m worried it was painted “off the books”.
Anyone else have a red mustang like this from the factory?

Are you looking at the M1 at a dealer? If so have them use their paint scanner between the two panels.

My blue BMW had a noticeable difference on the bumper cover as well. I notice it on a lot of cars. Even cars I've owned. I think my wife's red Highlander was like that as well.

Paint thickness will tell you if it's a repaint.

Mismatched bumpers and adjacent panels is a massive quality defect, and sadly. one that's common.

Often the parts are painted by the bumper vendor who ships them to the assembly plant. Unless it's the same paint, same primer and same sprayer in same climate controlled room likelihood of mismatch is high.

No one would ever accept a mismatch after a body shop repair why accept from Ford?

They get away with it because 95% OF the customers are not website informed auto enthusiasts buyers with the eye for this stuff. Ask anyone you know if they have checked to see the match of the bumper paint and they won t have any idea what you even talking about. Like someone stated the bumpers are often painted somewhere other than where the panels are painted and the formulas for the paint are different for plastics. Got to learn to live with these little things, LOL. You could have the prefect car, PPFed to death, and what happens? Some idiot hits you! Just my 2 cents.

I had a coworker with a Prius that was in an accident. You’d have to be nearly blind not to see the difference in paint color. After about a year I commented on it, and she said, “Oh, you’re right. I never looked that closely at it until now…”
