Can someone explain what ForScan is and how to get it. I'm having problems and need a code. Just pulled all wheels and cleaned abs sensors. Advance track, abs, traction control and steering all lit up and power steering not working. Battery checked good but that could be wrong. Will check fuses next.

Forscan is a computer software that allows you to alter the programming of the various computers in the car. Specifically Ford cars.
It's a free program for the basic options but the paid version allows much more versatility.
You will need to purchase an OBD transducer to communicate with the car.
There is a very large thread on this site that has a much better explanation and instruction than I'm able to provide. Perhaps someone will link to it for you.
I tried using it to program a new back up camera and couldn't get it to work.
And, this may be irrational, but the whole thing scares me a little with the ability to brick the car if you make a mistep. Though many, many people have used it with no issues.

For me, a good scan tool is much more useful. And versatile.
I'm not much interested in changing or disabling lights, honks or whatever although if you become proficient with Forscan you can do many things the dealer can helping you avoid them for some programing stuff.
For just reading coded there are lots of options. You can even access codes on our cars without any tools at all. Again, this site has the info on doing that.

For me, a good scan tool is much more useful.

Maybe more easy to use but for Ford cars and trucks this is the same as dealer software and in some cases can do more than the dealer. It's not just for bells and whistles.

Like any software it does take some learning to get all it is worth.

I'm with you on that. I think it might be a generational thing but I would rather follow the procedures in the manual (step on brake, flash headlight, honk horn twice type stuff) then anything to do with a laptop. I'm just not putting any faith in "somebody somewhere" posting online how to modify the factory settings in my car.

I did try the EQ mod for the factory stereo and after a couple weeks I put it back to the factory settings. For all the praise that mod gets here I didn't notice any difference at all. For the record my car has the 9 speaker system.

The 9 speaker system has a bass roll off built into the DSP. It works on the 6 speaker system.

I just reread your first post. I'm not the guy to know but it sounds a lot like what I've read here when someone unplugs the dyno plug. That's the "wire going nowhere" just beside the factory airbox. Maybe look into what other people have said about that.

That's the plug for disabling traction control and it's plugged in very clean.
