Why regulate it? Just leave it up to the teams. Let the team and its drivers decide how badly they want to be the fastest and how much of their health they're willing to sacrifice for it.

Because it doesn't work that way. All forms of motorsports have regulations. Ride height is one of the most important ones. But if this is a real concern the drivers have in regards to their heath F1, the FIA and Liberty Media need to address it.

If Russell doesn't want to break his back, then it's up to him to convince Toto to give him a taller car. If Toto wants to win more than he wants Russell to have a healthy back, well, then Russell can find another team, and Toto can search for another driver who is willing to break his back for a win.
These overpaid primadonnas want to have the cake and eat it, too.

They are not prima donna's, they are human and do not want to suffer injuries. And it's not just George. Other drivers have complained as well. Driver health is a safety issue and needs to be addressed By F1 for everyone.

They should complain to their own teams. They're the ones who made the cars lower than is comfortable or healthy. F1 didn't decree that the cars must be so low.
Drivers are part of a team, and the team as a whole is responsible for making design decisions that balance the need for speed with the need for comfort and health.
Your team does not care about your health? Well, tough luck, then go find a better team. And let them struggle to find another driver who is OK with them not caring about his health (good luck with that).

Just go back to the 2021 cars. At least it wouldn’t be Red Bull winning all the time.

Hello; I agree with your general points. I also see why they are not popular with some. I may be mistaken but think it was Chapman (Lotus) back a few decades ago who opined that if you were not breaking parts, you were not trying hard enough. Lighter cars go faster. Lighter car parts tend to break often. Car parts that break tend to cause crashes. He kept making parts lighter and lighter till they broke too often. Striving to go faster took the lives of drivers mush more often in the past.
A few weeks ago I watched a film about a year when the actor James Garner was a race car driver and also owned a second race car drive by another driver. Title was THE RACING SCENE. Set in the 1970's I think. So very much different in term of driver and fan safety. Only thing that comes close today are the motorcycle races at the Isle Of Mann.

As far as it goes, were I a young man and had a chance to make $20,000,000 +, I likely would risk some damage. Lewis H. has made many tens of millions during his racing career so far. I do not know if he has spent it all, but do doubt such. I agree with your point. he can say it hurts too much and just go home. He is greedy. He wants that record breaking championship.
I doubt that Max will ever be poor, so he can call it quits. I imagine the contracts allow them to quit if they claim an injury. I live in an area where it is common for someone to have a work "injury" and go on disability. Had a neighbor who did such. Was drawing a disability check and doing grueling farm work under the table.

But I get it. To be the fastest the cars need ground effects. Ground effects require the cars skim the road surface. Gonna bottom out some. I was watching an F1 practice session today. Drivers kept hitting the curbs. I guess hitting a curb some allows them to be faster. Driver control the cars directly. They can slowdown and miss the curbs. Same point you make about teams setting up the cars a bit higher. Even the media talking heads were today talking about ride height.

Enjoyed reading of and watching Bearman in qualifying. Here's to a great race. :like:.

Nice to see Alonso at the front of the pack. From the radio intercepts, he's having a fun time at it and really enjoying himself. Best of luck to him and others as well.

Hello; Bearman did good with 36 hour's notice. Maybe Ferrari can give Sainz (sp) another appendix operation?? He may need an extended recovery time to be safe? Being Ferrari has already dumped on him this year, would not put it past them.

Hamilton beat 10 other drivers this time.
