Newspaper front page photo of my toddler son and provisional pole sitter for Phoenix F1 race. LoL
Those were the days before all the elitism. I was a volunteer for the event and the following year toured the pits with my son before the day's first session. Nobody even freaked out when he laid hands on a 7-Up engine cover sitting next to the Jordan. He got to meet Senna and Berger but was too young to remember.
Must have had an effect though.
Him below (front row center) at the Red Bull F1 USA Driver Search (~400 top drivers from competitions across the US) to find the top 6 IIRC in the US to be considered for RB sponsorship in F1. He took pole for the first race. But had to start last in the final race because of an equipment failure in the prior round. Back half in each race (until the final) gets eliminated, but RB made an exception because of the equipment failure. Rossi won. I think that's Rossi behind my son with the helmet in his lap.
