But the biggest point about the race were why only the cars between Hamilton and Verstappen allowed to lap the safety car. Why not the rest of the lapped cars. There was plenty of time for the rest of the field to pass the safety car and still get a lap in under green flags.
This is the biggest issue on that race, it is NOT the normal approach, hence the inquiries. Under green or yellow is not the bigger issue. Hammy knows the rules and thought he could defend his position just fine with some backmarkers behind him, in front of Verstappen. But, clearing the field was not expected. It's the season's defining race, I would be totally upset too!

The problem was time. When the original call was made not to let all of the lapped cars by there wasn’t enough time. But then Masi was told if he just let the cars in between Lewis & Max through they could finish the race under green. Maybe, just maybe Masi didn’t realize the tire situation and in making the call transformed the entire championship. But he should have known or should have been told. He then could have reverted back to the original call.

A judgement call within rules. Sometimes things go your way other not. MB chose not to pursue so clearly there is no argument. They still won MFG title.

IMO the drama surrounding Hamilton is just third party noise the guy will either quit or race again. He's can't say thing because will cost him millions either way if he does.

Champions take the hits and move on....losers complain and whine...
Hamilton hasn’t said a word. He has accepted Max as the champion. MB was quietly asked to not pursue the matter for the good of the sport. What they got in return is the current FIA investigation.

And yes, it was a judgement call, just not not quite within the rules. even Masi had said before that is you decide to let back markers through it has to be all of them. He went against this and his original ruling just because of the opportunity to finish the last race of the year under green.

Yeah Hamilton’s been pretty quiet. He hasn’t posted anything on Instagram. Last thing I seen of him was getting knighted.

Same people stating that Masi had the right to break sporting regulations and have it finish under green would be the same people that would be crying if Hamilton pitted, Max stayed out and Masi let the cars between Hamilton and Max through and Hamilton passed Max.. they may not admit it, but they would be cry about how Masi gave Hamilton the championship. Fact is Masi broke the rule. It states pace car has to come in the lap AFTER the wave around..

And before the Hamilton haters start with all their BS, anyone NOT attached to RedBull have said the situation is messed up. Masi has done a crappy job ever since he was thrown into the position. He was never fit for the job.

Yawn. More of the same bs. Cry foul when it doesn’t go your way, but ok with it when it does. One thing is consistent, all the benefits provided to Hamilton and Merc throughout the season are conveniently ignored and not even mentioned. Wrecking Redbull, can’t compete in pitstops so lets cry, etc. You brought up “rules”, last race Hamilton twice damn near stopped in the racing line during practice and quals, zero repercussions. That can not be said for others in previous races. He knew exactly what he was doing but did the typical Hamilton, what just happened, nonsense. Hamilton isn’t going anywhere, its a complete crock of shxt. He’s playing the victim, just like he’s played the race card. It’s the same mo. He needs the attention F1 brings, and the monetary side isn’t bad either. Have to give him credit in this situation, he’s not having to try to draw attention, his minions are doing it for him. F1 is doing a great job running off fans just like Nascar did. Nascar will drop even more this year. They will never recover. F1 is rapidly headed down the same path. And it goes without saying, Masi SUCKS.

the only thing racing fans should be concerned with is the constant flip flopping by officials on what the rules are for that or this race. Same with Motogp, one guy constantly causes issues running wide in corners cause he brakes too late and then he cuts back onto the racing line without checking it's clear. He then runs into a bike already on the racing line and Race Control decide to punish the guy on the inside of the corner that never left the racing line. Like wtf, you run off track or even wide by your own mistake (not pushed out wide by another rider) and you've given up the right for the racing line. Make a safe re-entry cause you leave a big gap the racer behind will stick themselves in there.

It's not who won the finale in F1 that's the big issue for F1, it's the changing the of rules or not enforcing the rules just to make it exciting for the cameras and fans. Why should teams spend unbelievable amounts of money to race when they have no idea what rule book the Stewards or Race Control are reading from that weekend. It's pathetic.

Anyone with any bone of non bias will admit the race was not done correctly.

If the goal was one lap winner take all then a red flag solution should have been used.

Hello; This statement "the race was not done correctly" could be applied to some of the other races as well is one point some of us have been making. Not just for first place finishers as well.
That the rules should be applied evenly race after race is something I can support. Perhaps most of us can see the value in that. The rules should be made clear and applied evenly to all from those racing for first place to those in last place.

The issue in the last race is being turned into some sort of standalone thing. If they go back and change the results for that one incident, then why not go back to the other controversial incidents throughout the entire season? I hear often how some basketball player scored the "winning" goal in the last seconds. No, he scored the last points and all the other points scored during the entire game had to be there for the last to make a difference.
Refs and other authorities make calls in games and in races all the time. We can be unhappy when a ref blows a whistle early stopping a play when the football player kept pushing into the endzone as happened to the TN Vols this year. That lost touchdown made a difference, but the call was made.

Those of us who follow closely had plenty of "calls" to complain about during the racing season. reverse a few of the bad calls and that last lap of the last race would not matter. The call was made and applied to all in the race. Just like the TN fans, you all get to complain about the outcome of that particular call. I complained about some calls made in other races earlier in the season. I got over it.

That I happen to dislike Hamilton and am happy someone else is champion is biased to be sure. If Lewis sulks about it and quits racing, I will not miss his whinny radio calls at all.

Good thing he isn't quitting so you'll have another year to cry about him being the GOAT.

"The outlet reports suspicions that this is a political decision."
