Exactly. So, let the rich do what they do best - use their money to move the world forward - and stop worrying about helping the poor. If the poor want to compete, then let them come up with ingenious ideas that lower their costs, or get richer sponsors, or whatever.
And if someone invents a revolutionary gearbox that makes the car faster/more reliable/easier to control/whatever, then let them use it and win the race. The others will have to come up with a better idea next year if they want to compete, and everybody will benefit from it. Even us, who in a few years will see those revolutionary inventions in our street cars.
Throttling the rich to help the poor doesn't benefit anyone (except those poor, who will win not because they're better, but because the others haven't been allowed to be better). I hate this communist ideal, to force them all to be equal at all costs. It's ruining the sport without even achieving its goal, because they won't ever be equal anyway.
What’s painful is watching teams like HAAS just scraping by. I feel that the Andrettis are better suited financially to be in F1 but there are hard politics at play keeping them from joining.

Frankly, I feel sorry for Haas, because I do like them. It's a small team that's struggling to survive in the big boys' league. And it's American, in a world dominated by Europeans. That endears it to me. It puts me in mind of a plucky little dog; you can't help loving it. And I like Gunther; he seems like a nice, likable kind of guy. I do wish him and his team all the best and would feel a bit sad if they had to leave F1.
But on the other hand, if they (or anybody else) need spending caps to be imposed in order to survive, then I'll be fine with them not surviving. The more you spend, the better the cars and the sport will be. It's a sport for the rich, like it or not.

I think both HAAS and Williams have shown that they really don’t belong in F1. HAAS has a hard time developing their cars through the year if they get a flat tire during preseason testing. It takes money away from their yearly budget. I’m sure that the way HAAS performs they are recycling tires. Williams debacle in the 2019 preseason was one of the most embarrassing things that I’ve seen happen in modern history to an F1 team other than the McLaren/Ferrari gate. Even Ferraris engine debacle wasn’t as bad. They just found loopholes and exploited them and where punished for it because they where on the cusp of outperforming the at the time darling MB. And Williams hasn’t recovered from that either. With as a great history Williams has(only 2nd to Ferrari in most championship wins), I’d bow out and let someone else come in. They will not be fighting for any championships, they won’t regain their old glory, and even after ‘26 they’ll be relegated to the back of the field. I really think they need to consider closing shop.

They were bought out in 2020(Williams). They are in a much better place now then when Claire Williams was running it. The financial side is solid to as well. Haas is a little different situation. I don’t know if they truly are gett’n by of if Gene Haas simply doesn’t want to put the money in thats needed. The nascar team does pretty decent.

I think Gene is using the F1 team as a write off. Which I would too. Offset any taxes from the NASCAR team which is successful. Now when it comes to Williams I don’t think they are in solid footing. As early as Jan of this year Dorilton was looking for investors and was open to the idea of selling the team. I’m thinking that they will be sold sooner rather then later, and let’s say that F1 relents and allows for Andretti to come in. If he buys the outfit there will definitely be a name change.

Wasn’t aware of that with Williams. Haven't followed them real closely lately. Haas’s nascar outfit is a drop in the bucket compared to F1. I haven’t looked at any financial stuff on Haas’s main business lately either.

Adrian Newey should have left RB and joined Haas or Williams. Those teams would be winning.

Let’s be brutally honest. Neither of those two teams can afford Adrian. If either team did hire him, that team would consist of one proper F1 car and a go kart. But let’s look at this with a magnifying glass. How long and what did it take for RB and Adrian to dethrone MB?

That’s amusing you think Newey is the only variable in that situation.
True Adrian has been with RB since 06. They only had 3 wins before the hybrid era started in ‘14. After that RB didn’t win another team championship again until ground effects where introduced.
