Yes, it's City Motor Holdings. They owned the Reading and Newbury Ford dealerships....as well as the Newbury Peugeot and Honda dealerships.

I know a guy (with a Mustang!) who was a mechanic at the Newbury Ford location. They were told on Friday that they were, effectively, redundant.......and weren't getting paid for the last few days they'd worked.

A shitty situation all round :(

Hi mate crap situation. As i see it you have paid for the car and can provide evidence ie your order that your GT is at the dealership and fully paid tell the administrator that you have good title to the vehicle. Arrange with them that you will collect in on a recovery truck as it is not registered wrong spec etc pales into insignificance at this stage. Your contract was in place before the administration, funds had cleared and at that point title passed. Effectively yours is just like a car that was in for service they will not have kept those cars from going back to customers.

Possession as they say is nine tenths of the law get on to the administrator tell them you have paperwork to prove its your car you have good title and want your goods.Be forcefull and good luck.

I cant believe this. What a flippin nightmare!
I wanna say just go up there, demand the keys and take your car but its the wrong bloody car. You almost couldn't write this.

I feel sick for others that have ordered from them, wondering whats going to happen!

I think if I was you I would take the car as is and get Ford to compensate. I reckon they will be quite obliging.

Hmm - you haven't had many dealings with large, multi-national companies, where "moral obligations" often don't exist in the corporate vocabulary....

Ford haven't gone bust - it is the dealer, and that is who the contract was with. It is a sickener, though.

Trust me I have.

It appears that Ford have got the order wrong, not the dealer and the ownership of the car will not be an issue if its paid for.

I think if the right noises are made to the right people, he will be sorted out.

Fwiw, I reckon the dealer has ordered wrong rather than Ford cocking up the order. When I went in to check on my order after a month or so, there was quite a few things wrong:frusty::frusty:

We did a bank transfer on the day of pick up, I held 1k back in case something minor was not right, never ever thought when they'd had the car for nearly 3 weeks to check it would be the wrong spec!
:eyebulge:you paid in full before checking over the car? That stinks and sounds suspiciously like they were desperate for your cash and knew the order was wrong:paddle:

Cause the stupid human puts in the wrong info
Computers are great, but they are not mind readers
Have to admit have had many Fords from my 1st Car a Escort Ghia, Capri, now the Mustangs, was always proud of the Ford name, but now am sort of pleased that the Ford mark is hidden away on the Mustang
Can't believe all these horror stories I am reading every day.
I think the problem is 90% of the salesmen don't give a dam once they have your money.
The one thing I would advise everyone who is waiting on new cars is as soon as you get a build date, get a print out of your window sticker, at least you will know if it's the right specs before its shipped over
I read the US section a lot, and don't think I have read about any wrong specs cars being delivered to customers
I went LHD but would have been happy to go with Trustford Dagenham, if i had decided to go RHD
Before you buy, maybe if its not 100s of miles away, think about them
if you want the name of the manager, PM me. I cant give you his mobile but am happy to give you his name and tell him to expect a call from you
Very sorry again to read what is going on, I really do feel for you, must be a total nightmare

So quick update to all. Believe you me we are being forceful! Gowrings as expected have washed their hands of it. To be fair Ford have their sleeves rolled up to sort out customers. It appears Ford are taking responsibility for all stock in the next few days, it appears only secondhand stock and property are in the Administrators hands. Fingers crossed a resolution is now in play, I'm in direct contact with the Ford team directly managing this.
