So what happens now is that you ask them to hold it over for the new reg; they register it on Aug 31st...................... :faint:

or..............my favourite...........incoming Govt reverses the tax change :D
At least August and September is just a number plate change rather than a tax difference.

Hi everyone,

At last I have some better news to report. My dealer has just called and they have agreed to supply me with a replacement car. I need to go in a double check the spec is correct, but assuming all is well it will be delivered in September.

They have also agreed that I can keep using the current car until then, and they will just swap my exhuast over to the new car when it arrives.

All in all, I'm happy with this result. Thanks for all the helpful comments to date.
Great result i'd say. Boy, did the dealer know they were in the wrong or what!!
Really glad they've sorted that out for you. Wonder how much influence Andy Barratt had in that decision.

Great news!
As I said to you before, involving Andy Barratt galvanises them into action as it did for me with the same dealer.
Well done

Great news, really pleased for you. Kudos to the garage for handling their mistake well in the end.

I'm sure the 'free' (not your tyres anymore) line lock burnouts will mitigate your emotional distress.

Do feel a little sorry for the next owner of your current car who'll effectively be buying a Mustang hire car without the benefit of the daily valeting ;)
This should not stop you enjoying the next three months to excess however!

Thanks for all the comments, hopefully no more cock ups from here.

Still going to take care of my current car, don't want it looking shabby when I hand it back.

I'll keep this thread updated if there's anything else worth reporting.

Just a final post to wrap this up.

So today I collected my new Mustang. It is identical (even down to the number plate) to my old car, except it will only cost ÂŁ140 a year to tax, hooray!

The old car had just ticked past 2,000 miles when I handed it back on Monday, so was curious if the new car felt any different. It doesn't, I could easily forget it's a different car!

So a happy ending to this sorry saga. Fair play to my dealer, it took a big kick up the backside but they eventually sorted it. Now I can get back to enjoying the car!

I wish I could report the same..

I bought my car on June 12th, returned to the dealer on June 19th and haven't had it since!! I've asked the dealer for a PX value or replacement car but my emails are being ignored.

I feel as though I've spent ÂŁ38 Grand for nothing but bellyaching, arguing and stress!!

I emailed Andy, and got a reply from his department stating that they would follow this up if I emailed them back, but I've heard nothing since other than Bristol Street telling me last week the door would be three weeks and now they're telling me August 28th!!

PLEASE GIVE ME A NEW CAR FORD!!! I BOUGHT A NEW CAR AND WILL END UP WITH A DAMAGE REPAIRED ONE!!

Did you go through to the Ford Customer Relationship Centre and given a case manager? I found them really helpful when I was without mine for a month.

Yeah, I got a case number and a lady called Claire has told me she can follow this up for me if I mail her. So, I did that, and have heard nothing??

They told me Ford don't deal with replacement cars and my dealer is ignoring my mails so I guess I just have to sit quietly and wait??

Anyway, I'm off now as I'm hijacking this thread!!
