I want to re-torque my front strut to knuckle bolts and I need to back them off to get a correct torque spec reading. What does Ford recommend in terms of preparation and whether or not a lock tightener should be applied? I can't find anything that addresses that part of the R and R procedure.

Thanks @Farkel, I found that in my search. What I was hoping to find is what type of preparation and lubricant/thread lockers does Ford recommend? I know that Porsche and other manufacturers are very clear on reassembly, but I don't find that anywhere for Ford.

I reuse my bolts, don't apply threadlock, torque to 185# and then put paint marks to check for any backing off. I track my car and have never had any issues.

Ford has no special prep requirements for pretty much any chassis bolt. Because the manual always says to throw them away. That being said, you don’t have to back them off. The torque wrench goes click and you continue to live your life.
