Now hold on a second, there is a lot of misinformation about this tune only granting you only the 3/36, from what I understand FR is putting up the bill if anything tune related issues but you still get to keep your 5/60k power train warranty, it is still intact and it not voided like if you got an aftermarket tune from anywhere else.I consider this a true logical option bar none to people who care about their warranty. I spoke to a rep and he confirmed this.Unless your over 36k miles...then your SOL and there's no point in going FR over anyone else unless their performance numbers are better / better price.
Warranties matter only if you need them, otherwise there is no value. There's a difference between Insurance to cover an "after the fact" event and Assurance to prevent the event all together. Ideally we would want both, but I see more value in Assurance over Insurance.
That is why so many people use Tune+, because Adam provides Assurance through his excellent track record. The same with LMS. Mountune hasn't released their software yet so we can't speak to their record. Rousch to my knowledge also has a good track record.
These are all examples of Assurance. FR is offering both assuming your within their mileage limit, but many are not, Juben for example is at 50k, well past the limit as are many others. Now he is using a Tune+ PCM software setup and has been since early on, it's just an example of the other side of the coin.
I think unfrotunately I opened pandoras box myself when I listed the FR tune on the TST optamization thread a while back with all of the other bolt on modifications. The idea at the time was to do as much as possible to preserve the warranty and for newer cars the FR tune would be the way to go in that regard. But I never really thought out the fact that there are an increasing number of 2015's with over 36k already on them...
I chose to take a very calculated and small risk by using LMS software, but with a spotless track record and one of the longest history with every ecoboost variant out there, the risk is very minor, especially since I have taken additional precautions beyond just using a PCM software developer with a spotless track record such as using a 160F thermostat, running 93 octane on a 91 optimization, using 1 step colder plugs, a much better inter cooler and finally a dual valve catch can.
That is my Assurance :-)
The 5/60 powertrain warranty goes away and you only keep your 3/36 bumper to bumper. If you're at 37k miles, you don't have a warranty anymore once you install the FP tune. It falls under the 'Ford Performance and mountune® Power Packs, Handling Packs and select components for Mustangs, Fiesta, Focus, and F-150' section of the Limited Warranty Program. If you were told otherwise, then that rep a) didn't understand what he was telling you or b) was just trying to make a sale.

Meaning, if the tune did not cause the damage, you still have the drive train warranty up to 5yrs or 60k. If the tune is the cause of the damage (and it most cases will likely be), the Ford Performance Warranty would cover the damage.
The people who Dyno'ed the GT power packs said the specs FP put out was accurate. 25HP and 70 lbs of extra torque will likely be a little modest at the worst. I am more interested in how much larger the power band increases. I love the feeling of the car pulling straight to redline.Have it installed by a dealer... then go back to same dealer if you have issues.

I am pretty sure they set the 91 octane requirement in place as that is the highest octane available in some states. FR Tune requires 91+ octane.I'm wondering if the FP tune will run on 87 like the stock tune does... Interestingly, the stock tune requires 93 to make full rated power but the FP tune only requires 91 which seems odd. So, I do wonder if the car just pulls timing and is safe if you could only get 87 or 89 like when we had the pipeline break a month ago. I'd love to see dyno runs for all the various fuel grades on both the stock and FP tune.
