It isn't a hard install at all. Something is off.

Did you check the obd port like someone suggested? I assume you have the car keyed on to the run position. Don't forget to keep the car on a trickle charger too.

In the end, take a breath and call the ford help number. It's unlikely, but possible, you receive a defective procal.

Yes. Key was in run position, instructions followed exactly, battery plus trickle, and I dont get any commutation from the obd port and the computer.

Car runs and drives fine on stock tune. It just won't recognize the ford device

So either it isn't plugged in fully to the port (I've found it tight the first few uses) or the tool is defective.

Edit, can you send a pic, taken from the floor looking up, of the tool plugged in the obd port?

I'm almost contemplating selling my car over this. I dont have the $$ to track down some weird ass s550 electrical shit and get the tune to work
So, what kind of car are you looking into once you sell your s550?

maybe disconnect and reconnect your car battery and let the computer in the car reset and try again, also check your device manager in the computer for com port connectivity.

When the cable is plugged in, open the settings on your pc and check the device manager to ensure the pc is connected. It should be under USB devices but if you don’t see it, that’s going to be your problem. More than likely it’s a pc and not a car issue. I know it sounds silly but if it’s an older pc with a newer cable there could be compatibility issues. I’ve run into this kinda thing before outside of cars. It could be a software or firmware driver issue. I’ve read that pro cal tool is real hinky about which edition of windows you use and I’d suspect that’s where the problem lies.

Exactly. His usb driver or operating system needing an update could do it. Also windows 11 is known to be problematic. Use 10.

Do you really need multiple threads talking about the same issues? Need to slow down and provide more detail in just one thread instead of jumping all over. I saw one post that states your laptop won't work due to not having the correct port, and that you were going drag your desktop out into the garage. So were you logged into Ford Performance on both devices? If so, then my guess is that is where the error is coming from. Logout of FP on the laptop and use the desktop. Maybe take pic of the error and post it? At this point, I would probably just hold off and contact Ford Performance tomorrow morning, don't want to make things worse.

I installed the Power Pack 2 on my old 2017 GT back in 2018. Easy install, no issues at all, and I am sure I used a MacBook because I myself didn't own a laptop at the time, so had to use my wife's and that is all she had. I now have a 2020 GT with the FP calibration and that you need a Windows based device, so had to go and buy a laptop. Same with that, once I got a Windows based device, easy.

Lenovo Thinkpad is pretty inexpensive and worth having. Just saying.

What's a profile relearn? Did you have to call ford to get them to do this?
